See something like that would be awesome.
Yeah it's great. I think as a parent it would be really cool to be able to see the games if your kid is in a travelling team. Even for the 16's it's a state-wide comp. My son is u15 next year, but imo good enough for his age to be playing in that comp in 2025 (if he wants to try out, and commit to it).

While we are on the pathways, Nikora Williams will play for the NSW U17's this Saturday against the Warrington Wolves U17's at Blacktown.

With a name like that, how could he be anything other than a Shark back rower.
Needs to move one position in away from centre!

If he stays at centre we can run

Jack Williams Briton Nikora Nikora Williams on one side though.
Odds of a Jack Briton winger or half around?

Hey guys, we ( wakefield trinity ) have signed Toby boothroyd from your jersey Flegg side. What can we expect from him? Hopefully we get as good a device from the last few sharks we’ve signed

Welcome!

If you go to the NSWRL website can you watch Flegg highlights or is it geoblocked?

I remember him looking good fairly commonly. Usually at second row.

Think he may have come close to being named in our reserve side (Newtown Jets) a couple times last season, but second row is an area our squad is extremely shallow so definitely says something we are letting him leave.

He’s a left second rower who isn’t Teig Wilton. Won’t get a shot here.

Teig is very very good despite what you might read here. Could be captain in 3 years.

Toby plays mostly left edge but has played some middle. Runs and tackles hard. Doesn’t really fit NRL cookie cutter body shape though. Not mobile enough for an edge or huge enough for middle. Would make a good 13 in a team that doesn’t have Hosking in it. Toby is good but Blake is better imho.

What limited footy I’ve seen of Toby he looks good at Flegg level but hard to see him translating that into NRL/SL level imminently, my guess is he stacks on some kgs over next 3-4 years and transitions fulltime into middle.
And can either make that work at a first grade level or not

(on Teig, I rate him except one area of his game. I’m hypercritical if that atm, but do subscribe to the 2 years behind Nikora theory… I might have even been first to mention that?)

Thanks for the replies, we got relegated season just gone out of the SL so he’ll be playing mainly against part timers. Hopefully though with the new grading system we’ll be back up again. Hopefully a year settling in and putting some size on like mentioned he’ll hit the ground running in 2025

Personally I think Teig’s defence for the most part was top notch. He makes way more good decisions than bad. He just had that one awful miss on Nuikore and people never forgave him for it.

(Probably could have done better on that Sloan runaway too, but Williams was just as guilty and nobody rides Jack for being a poor defender).

you’re rewatching the games so will probably tell me I dreamt it all but I’m sure there were a few times he didn’t push across on line when he could/should have and left Moylan stranded. Didn’t help Moylan then probably also didn’t make a genuine tackle attempt…

Also am guessing his comms on tryline aren’t great.

Edge was horrific while it was Wilton Moylan Talakai, but fine as Graham Trindall Talakai and fine last season as Graham Moylan Talakai

He was bordering on that level for us last season (adult part timers)

In 2022 roughly half the left second row minutes were played by Teig.

There is definitely room for improvement defensively, but imo it is exaggerated on the forum.

We are having this convo in the wrong thread though. I might carry it on in the Teig thread…

Ch9 / Kayo show a game a week, but we also have a streaming service. $50 for the year. Every game. Q Cup, 20’s, 18’s, 16’s, girls, women.
That's just a QRL deal with local streaming company I assume?

I can't speak for Kayo's inner working too much but that like to meet a minimum standard which requires more staff and more setup.
But would be good if NSWRL could replicate such broad of streaming, could maybe even bundle them together for like $80
