Such and interesting match up, many duel position players in each team. Can't wait for this Derby. Ol BirdyBrain at 2nd row gonna get a tackle testing;) me thinks. Toss a the coin result. Not sure but "Maybe"Mybe aint at hooker either.

Fifita obviously did enough to be preferred to Hunt for round 1 and has done enough to hold him off for now. Although Jets review said Hunt played well. Fifita isn't playing so well that it is his jersey to lose, I think Hunt could potentially play well enough for Jets he forces his way in.
But for now it is Fifitas jersey.

Hunt or Williams vs Trindall is another story. With Talakai starting instead of bench we lose a bit of the versatility him and Tracey give us,

probably makes Trindall a bit more attractive.
And it seemed like Fitz may have always wanted to play Trindall off the bench but obviously plan affected by suspension.
Personally if Williams is fit I think Williams gives better versatility for what we need. Williams can play centre, second row and In the middle. If there is an injury to hooker a half or wing you just move Tracey and Williams then has it covered for centre

Williams may yet come in.
McInnes who had same op was named in reserves and bumped into the 17 when he completed the captains run the day before game. I certainly wouldn't rule out seeing Williams, but was just commenting on side as named.

I agree as had already had some discussion Williams can cover edge to give Talakai a break, or if he did need to push out.

I just look @ that Dragons bench and i see 4 versitile forwards, especially with the return of Sims to the starting lineup.
Our starting pack is gonna have its work cut out.

It's certainly a Jacked up bench

I was really hoping Woods would play, I’ve been waiting years for him to be instrumental in one of wins & I pencilled in round 3 as the game.

haha - for what it's worth, I'd say round 16, 2020 by Woods was probably one of the best performances by a Sharks middle in the last 3 years. He was certainly instrumental in that win.

His first half stint in round 25 last season was also probably the best stint from any middle in 2021. Wasn't a win though.

Colquhoun is a middle forward.

Williams, Rudolf and Talakai were all predominantly edge players in Cup. Any of those 3 can handle playing there, but none of them have the motor to play 80.
Fair enough, but he could still come onto the bench

The Jets named him in #11 - but you can't trust Matterson. He just copies/pastes last week's team and then replaces the missing blokes.

Hunt is not in the mix for a bench spot?
Have I missed something? is he injured?

Thought I saw him named a little further down in reserves.

I thought with a bit of game time he could impress

Though we could end up seeing trindall swapped for Moylan, then bring him on in when the opposition forwards are tired

really doubt that. I think Fitz is settled on Moylan/Hynes for the time being and reasonably happy how the pairing is going and won't want to interrupt potential further progress.

Trindall will be the one coming on for impact or injury cover. Who he replaces I am not sure. could be in the forwards or halves

I think it's a good sign of the form of our forwards and depth that quality players like Hunt & Williams are currently named as reserves. However prior to the pre-season games who would have thought Fifita & Tolman would be looking as sharp as they are. I think alot were considering them depth, not necessarily starting 17 material.

Though surely Williams (our best forward in 2021 IMO) won't be spending too much time there. Hunt is very damaging but isn't given that much opporutnity / minutes to stake his claim over a solid long stint workhorse like Tolman or an experienced big name forward on a comeback year like Fifita.

I feel as though Fitz is playing the percentages on this one even if it seems a strange bench or a bit light on I think we can make it work and it gives as plenty of options relatively speaking with the outs we have.
