Probably also should note... if the Jets do qualify for finals they will be playing a knockout semi next week before the Sharks game, which would likely mean they field a very similar line-up rather than getting help from the NRL squad.

As far as sending players down...
* Trindall, Tracey and Colquhoun all qualify to play finals for the Jets based on games played.
* Any other player can be sent down as long as the Sharks are still in the comp (playing on that weekend)
* Any player who appears in one finals game is automatically qualified for the rest of the finals

Looks like Stonestreet started the game. JT to bench. Makes sense.

14-0 Jets after 31 minutes. Tries to Stonestreet, Iro and Pickering. Puru 1 from 3.

Dogs up 12-10 after 30 minutes in the other game.

Damn that sort of timing ****ed us last season. Played Panthers after they’d played NRL but before Sharks had. Then played I think it was bulldogs who were out of NRL finals but Jets game was before Sharks again

8-0 Jets after 20. Tries to Stonestreet and Iro.

Dogs up 12-10 after 27 minutes in the other game.
I might have guessed Rodwell to bench for flexibility but JT to bench is probably better for us

We're in, can't finish lower than 5th now.
Maybe im not reading this right - Sea Eagles leap frog us to 4th, then if the raiders win they go to fifth dont they? Which places us out of the finals in sixth.

Yeah, you're right sorry, NRL app has updated our points total but not eagles, bit annoying.

Disappointing way to go out.

On a positive note, Flegg finished 3rd, get a second chop at the cherry, and should give it a fair crack given the troops they can send down (SS, Puru, Waitere, Hosking, Healey).

I swear Newtown were leading the comp half the year or more?
We’re doing well, until they weren’t
Seemed to coincide with increase in Sharks injuries
Kind of. Equal 1st after 17 rounds.

Lost to Dragons
Lost to Magpies (missing Atkinson and Berrell)

*** Stonestreet injured **
Won v Warriors
** Tracey, Trindall and Colquhoun to Sharks **
Lost to Sea Eagles
** Tasipale goes to Super League **
Lost 3 to good teams
Won 2 against bottom feeders to finish.

Looking back, it was the losses to the 10th placed Dragons and 11th places Magpies (with the NRL players in the team) that was their undoing - though having some of those NRL guys on deck during the 4 game losing streak might have helped too.

Some interesting comments/insights from Gus on his latest podcast about player development. A Bulldogs fan asked why there has been so much chopping and changing in the lower grades. Gus said that a lot of it is deliberate, and they are constantly re-assessing where the best place is for every single player who is in their system. He said the system is not there to win footy games, but is there to develop NRL talent, and sometimes it can be beneficial for certain players to go up, down, change positions etc.

He said that this is how it worked for him at both the Roosters and Panthers, and now at the Bulldogs. Different club, but this should provide a bit of relief to the "Sharks obviously don't have control over Newtown because they keep moving blokes around" crew.
