Golden Point

Today's Dragons v Roosters game really showed to me today why the NRL have to give Golden Point the punt.

They say it's an exciting end of the game for the fans but with the NRL's scheduling and TV rights they really don't care about the fans being at the ground so why bother with it anymore.

I think that two teams that have slogged it out as these guys did today deserve to go home with a point each.

So what are your thoughts? Do we keep Golden Point or do we give it the flick?

Draw is fine. But the nrl think it needs the excitement factor of golden point so it'll stay.

The voluntary tackle can **** off too

If additional time has to be played, make it extra time of 10 minutes so the opposition has a chance to respond.

Everyone knows in golden point that both teams are going for the field goal but for the past 80 minutes it doesn't enter a team's mind. It becomes a completely different game.

Was a fan to start with, but it's worn out it's welcome. I'd rather either just a draw or 5 extra each way. Finals, 5 minutes each way, then golden point.

I dont like the idea of dividing 3 points if a normal win is worth 2. Yeah if u can lose in golden point you deserve a consolation point, butndoesnthe winner who couldnt close it out in normal time deserve the same as one who does? I dont think so.

Either make a win 3, then golden point 2-1.
Or piss extra time off for week to week and call it a draw. Elimination games 5 mins each way, then golden point.

If you win, it's extremely fair and we totalky deserved it.

If you lose, its unfair to my team who have slugged their guts out for 80 mins and we deserve at least some points, scrap it now.

(a) victory by scoring a try only

(b) that the extra time is played out in full and whoever's in front at the end wins. If no one's in front at the end divide the points.

If they want to keep something, make it Extra time (5 or 10 mins each way) or at least "Golden try" and a team can't take the 2 from a Penalty.

My thoughts are the same as Wayne's on this... win I'm a fan, lose it can go get ....kd
They might review it if one of the nrl favourite teams play out a golden point xtra time in round 26 then get bundled out following week 1st week of the semi's... but until then I'll continue to love hate it.

I don't mind a draw and call.it quits . Imagine Premier league soccer going to penalty shootout every draw .That would suck .
But if we're going to have extra time I'd like a combination of Thresh's thoughts .
Golden try is game over , yet you can still take field goals and penalties and if no tries get scored the team with the most points win .
