They aren't really though. If a team scores in the first set then one team has tackled and one team has attacked. They are doing completely different things and the only thing that decides who does what is a toss of a coin.I have no problem with Golden Point. Each team plays by the same rules and they know exactly what it takes to win. It's usually played at a faster rate and there is an emphasis on having no errors or giving away penalties.
If we were down by 20 points and made the comeback to equal at full time I feel like we would be cheated with having the draw. I want the chance to use the momentum and get the win no matter how points come.
I don't like the idea of giving the losing team a point because I feel that scenario could be manipulated in a teams favour. Say a team like the Knights is on 28 points with a team like the Cowboys at round 26 and you're even with the Knights at 75 minutes. You're attacking their tryline with a good chance of scoring... I'd much rather play the Knights in the finals so I let the game end at even to allow the 1 point that allows the Knights into the finals at the expense of the Cowboys.
If you're going to change anything then just make it Golden Try/conversion, but the way it is I don't see it needing to change. The roosters/Dragons game was a great game and the better team won at the end of the day
I could actually cop this.It definitely is not fair under the current system.
I recall a game where we rolled the Dragons at ANZ. They kicked off in GP, we rolled upfield, Ryles gave away a penalty we banged it over, game over. They never touched the ball under the golden point rules; so aside from the massive LOLZ that situation provided; it is not fair.
In touch footy and oztag if this eventuality happens the scoring team has to kick off and defend one set. Even park oztag has a better and fairer system than the NRL. Let that wash over you.
fair call but the same could be said for the defending side. They have the chance to defend well and force an error and be in better position than they would of been after receiving the kick. Really if you're letting a try in after the kick off you deserve to loseThey aren't really though. If a team scores in the first set then one team has tackled and one team has attacked. Not wasting my time, it can't be explained in a simpler way.
