If Metcalf hadn't signed for the Warriors I'd be with you mate - but his defection has left a sour taste in my mouth. Moylan it is, however unhappy and unpalatable though that may be.
I tend to see it like Matt Burton, he's done the best thing for himself (following career-threatening injury and us not locking him up), we should use him while we've got him.

You go with your best team until finals are out of reach. If Metcalf is good enough to be in the 17 he should be there.

I actually don't mind this, would be a upgrade on Trindall
Exactly.
Young, established half with a good passing and long kicking game - plus he likes to take the line on in open play.
Take him out of the Warriors 'off the cuff' system and add likes of Hynes, Kennedy around him plus edge runners like Nikora, Graham and you've got a winning formula

Saw some talk from a big fan of his they think he lost a bit off his kicks following stress fracture in foot at start of last year.
That shouldn't really cause a notable difference in kicks once healed so a bit of a concern there could be an issue that deteriorates further - probably no big rush for anyone to sign him currently though

Don't get me wrong, if Fitz picks Metcalf then no probs, happy to go with it. :)

Hasn’t grabbed the bull by the horns with his 2 oops this season but I’m not writing him off just yet either.
The all stars game he was playing behind a beaten pack with players he is unfamiliar with.
Again the trial yesterday is a similar scenario. We kept making errors (him included granted) so we never really got going. He was also playing with a lot of kids so again probably a bit unfamiliar.
I still think a trial with the main squad would have been a better indicator but now with his suspension he won’t get that opp. Shame.
You'd have to think Fitz had his reasons for starting him last trial

We've heard from the prosecution. I'm keen to hear the defence's case. Over to you @Wizard
Would love Trindall to go better then he did .. It’s almost as if this was a trial game and he was playing with players he’s never played with before. Bit embarrassing to write off a player based off their performance in the first trial of the year when he’s playing with juniors all around him, over dramatic.

Plenty of good players put in poor performances in their trials not the first time and won’t be the last

Unfortunately the forum has already spoken and a halfback that is reliant on those around him playing well and just doing a role is not sufficient.

Ones been around for 9 years, gifted with talent all around him yet gets worse year by year where as the other hasn’t even had a full seasons worth of nrl experience and has never got the chance to even play alongside a dominant pack

So Trinders and Pele will both be allowed to play in the trial game but Trinders suspended for the first 2 games of the season and Pele for the first game.

Yet Latrell Mitchell (and Souths) successfully claimed the all stars game within his suspension!!!
I’m surprised they didn’t also claim the charity shield.

MRC is starting its silly season early.

I really do not like Latrell. Sooner or later he will meet someone who will get the better of him.

It made no sense Latrell missing All Stars - but not having it count against his suspension. The NRL made the right decision to correct that.

I must admit that I've recently changed my whipping boy vote.

Nikora is a safer bet, you know he will get picked every week but the bloke just might be on the improve. Imagine having a whip with no one to crack though?

As for Trindall, his performances are all over the place. Needs to show consistency back in NSW Cup - if he can't deliver it at that level it isn't going to be any easier for him in firsts.

Yes I have gone a bit sour on him very quickly but there are just so many issues in his game right now and they show up nearly every time he plays, i really am seeing and feeling the trend with him now. I don't think his mentality has adjusted to first grade or that he really believes he can be our starting half.

There are young halves around that play and compose themselves in a more mature way to him is another way to look at it. He gets frustrated easily, has brain snaps with the ball and misses tackles we need him to make. Will also force passes that aren't on.

I did like the look of him next to Hynes in the All Stars though. I think he just needs to settle himself down a bit and not go for the big play every attacking set and learn to build some pressure. Show some guile and patience and use that big boot and side step and that cut out ball when it's on.

I agree with most of the above, mainly because I had him earmarked as a possible long term half and I've been super disappointed with his last few games. I am good with Moylan getting the start over him, but if Moylan plays 50% of games it will be a surprise.

Looks like Nikorima will get the jump on Taylor to play 6 for Warriors. They've also got CHT if needed. I'd be on the phone to Browny offering up Metcalfe now for either Taylor or CHT, cause if/when Moylan is out it'd be good for Tricky to have some decent competition for the backup half spot.

Taylor would start over Tricky at this stage, and i'm not sure Trindall would put much pressure on
