I don't think it was better than Hynes' All Stars game.

I'm a Trindall fan and I love the energy he brings. He just needs to be a little smarter. Grubbering dead can be forgiven but not on tackle 2.

Thankfully Hynes looks like he's got more composure. Here's hoping they form a really strong partnership.

I thought Trindall played really tough. I liked the way he went about his work, and he can really hit in defence. But not like a halfback. He's feeling more and more like a 14 who's day job is 25-35 min ballplaying lock but can cover the halves and hooker if needed. I hope he finds an attacking kicking game and better sense for what play to run and becomes the next Thurston, but that's where I'd have him in the team today (if I had him in the team...) based on last year and what we've seen of him over his first grade career. Having said that... it's looking more and more like Hunt would offer better value week in, week out in that 25-35 minute role. We need the firepower up front more than we need a utility right now, especially with Cam and Wade's injury woes.

I genuinely don't think his shortcomings are terminal, but there's work to do to before I'd want him as the starting 6/7.

The Try, try assist, line break, 3 forced dropouts, 5 tackle breaks and overall game in defence and attack from Trindall suggest otherwise mate - you’re entitled to your opinion but fk some of the takes on here blow my mind sometimes

That try was completely soft, there isn't a top 15 team that will just let that happen in the actual competition. Crap like not realising it's the 5th tackle can't happen in a team that wants to be top 4.

I want him to be wearing 14 though. There's enough about him to play bench half/hooker cover.

Where did he do the try assist?

He had a great game on the weekend. I don't think he got a TA and I'd argue a forced dropout on third tackle isn't as impressive as one on fifth, but I love his energy.

I've always been a big Trindall fan and see him as our long term 6/7. I think he's robust and crafty, but also at this stage of his development good for a couple of rushes of blood to the head per game.

That's where I think Nicho's All Stars game was stronger. He was incredibly composed, playing against a much better side (than the Bulldogs trial) and in the driving rain.

OK, I've just re-watched the highlights. If you are calling Trindall's bomb that led to Kennedy's try as a try assist, you are truly delusional mate. And I say that kindly. The try assist is Ronaldo's with the excellent tap back. No way should that be an assist to BT.

Trindall was more measured and execution was far better in this dogs trial. He got less frustrated but that's also easier when you are far ahead on the scoreboard playing an inferior team, still credit for bouncing back.

Not convinced he is an answer @ 6 but let's keep in mind it probs would have been Moylan out there in 6 if not for his cork which had Fitzy rest him so it seems Trindall isn't trying out for 6 but 14 anyway

Trindall playing better than Hynes though? nah I don't really buy that
Could do some good things from the bench for us as roving lock / play making utility. Some energy, running, passing, chips over the top ect.

playing alongside his regular team mates helped I think.
the pennies trial was with all our pups, so he felt he had to do more given he is part of the snr squad. Also our forwards got dominated a bit.

All stars game, he was trying too hard to impress but also playing along side unfamiliar players which didn’t help.

I’d suggest he would play a general type halves role (ie 7) getting us around the park to free up Nicho to play a running type half role (ie 6) if Trindall is a regular starter.

Given that we are starting with Moylan and Nicho, then Nicho played in the position he will play in come round 1 with Trindall “filling the gap” in this instance.
But yes, Trindall more likely for that 14 jersey if Moylan is fit.

Yeah I think Tricky is a good thing to be the # 14 when available and next in line for a spot in the halves when the inevitable happens ..

There's probably a little bit of a question mark about the suggestion he played bad in Riff trial because his teammates were bad so he shouldn't be blamed, but he should be credited for playing well with better team mates in the Dogs trial.

I mean, I agree worse teammates definitely didn't help him and better teammates did, and NRL will obviously be with the better teammates, but it is kind of sounding like they are dragging him along with them.

Like Cowboys captain and legend Chad Townsend was for us, when the going gets rough if he can't play well under adversity can he help us win?
At the moment it sounds like no.
More development to come of course.

And as per 2016 an okay halfback can work if they are cheap enough to ensure the rest of your team are guns. But obviously we are all hoping he develops beyond just being an okay halfback.
Already 10x the player Chad ever was depending on who you ask (NRL players, coaches and media likely to disagree).

I still don't know if my preference for his development is 14 in the NRL or 7 for Jets.
Will accept Fitz knows best.

trindall looked really comfortable behind a pack that dominated - colour me shocked

trindall looked really **** in a team getting dominated - colour me shocked

we will say the same about hynes

our long term partnership is nicho and trindall, but moylan has made the 6 his to start the season

trindall will get time and will evolve and have some stinkers

he isnt andrew johns, but he isnt townsend either, so take the good with the bad
