Always a rocks or diamonds type of player at this stage .
Boulders today .
Lots to learn with decision making and to be able to be first grade consistent
Nobody really running angles in that mundane squad today didn't help
Hopefully gets into some rhythm at the Jets

Need to sign CHT from Warriors to play 7 in 2023 - could be an electric combo with Hynes.
Plus we could approach Warriors for an immediate swap between him and Metcalf

Not putting a red line through him either, but an average forward pack didn't make him throw an intercept on first tackle and a useless grubber on 2nd.
It was the exact same grubber into the feet we saw consistently last season, too. I could see myself throwing valuables through the TV if I had to watch that in first grade again.

I don't see it with CHT tbh. I'm not sure he has it in him to be a long term half in the nrl.

We could go for someone like Volkman from the Roosters. His pathway is blocked and he is highly rated there.

I'm not giving up on Trindall but some extra competition from next year would be great.

Trindall near the line, will he go himself or kick into some feet?

Like I said ages ago. We were nuts not giving Ashley Taylor a crack on minimum wage. At best Trindall becomes Ashley Taylor.

Sorrry Trinders, hope you prove me wrong.

Disappointed to hear about Trindall's game. Moylan looks to be the safest option for now, also wouldn't be surprised if Fitz is holding out to buy a decent half.

He's not a Hynes or Moylans ringhole. Up there with great Sharks players like Gavin Clinch, Blain Stanley and Stuart Topper.

I actually don't mind this, would be a upgrade on Trindall

Really harsh to write off the guy after a trial game.
It is, hopefully he shakes the cobwebs off from the All Star and trial games, and comes back ready for the next trial.

The thing is, from what I read, he doesn't need to be flash. He just needs to get to his kicks and have a decent passing game and let Hynes and Kennedy do their thing.

Not that player voting/rating is the be all , end all
Trindall started playing first grade about round 15 with a different 5/8 to work with regularly .
Took a while to hit his straps.
Scored 2 points here rounds 20 , 23 , 24 , 25 .
Not saying he deserves a starting spot this year , but last year did a fair job it seems

22 year old halfback with limited experience has a bad game.....someone should shoot him.
That seems a bit extreme. A good keelhauling should suffice.

This is a circular argument mate...

A bunch of us said he is good late last year.
He played bad.
He must be good though because look at how well we rated him last year.
Therefore we are right. He is good.

He was statistically the worst defender in the competition last year. He did some good things, but was out of his depth at NRL level. This doesn't mean I'm ruling out him being good this year. It just means that there were plenty on here watching him with rose-coloured glasses last season.

I really want Trindall to succeed as I don't think Moylan is up to it fitness wise and over the whole season. Trindall did do some good things last year although it did take me a while to concede there was a bit of a footballer in there.

Now, I know that yesterday was only a trial and I am not putting any stock into the scoreline or the way we played. But you would perhaps expect Trindall to lead a bit better yesterday than what he did. His high shot may yet suspend him Round 1 so Fitz may not have to make a decision at all.

But trial or no trial, there were things that he did yesterday that didn't put him in a good light unfortunately. Even with his limited first grade experience I would have expected him to show his wares a bit more than he did yesterday. It's a long season though - I won't write him off but he is going to have to do well now to shake off yesterday's outing.
