Melbourne simply too good tonight but we stayed with them for most of the game. There’s a lot to be optimistic about, Melbourne needed to dig deep into their box of tricks to put our blokes away, they also benefited from some silly penalties from our blokes, some poor refereeing, us losing Finucane and some good luck for them to see us off.

We will be back and I CANNOT wait for the return match, we can beat these blokes with a bit more fine tuning.

We showed we can be competition heavyweights this year with a bit more work.

Well we wanted to know where we stand in the comp. Things we have learnt:

1. Still give away cheap penalties and ball
2. One on one defence still needs work
3. Need to convert more line breaks into tries
4. Goal kicking is a concern
5. Still susceptible to soft tries on our line.

In saying all that we probably beat 12 other teams tonight.

Listening on the radio, we just let them off the hook with stupid penalties. Gifting them filed position. Didn’t defend errors and were poor after our scoring sets.
