Yeah hardly inspiring, is it.
I know being an AC is very different to HC, but if this is Hannay's attitude then hopefully he's only signed on as AC for one year.
Whilst we have been awful, and Toby's defence is awful, you just have to think that can't be completely accurate. How in this age of professional sport could a coaching staff not address form of individuals. I can't wrap my head around it being true to that degree.
You'd think, especially given the bubble situation, HC would find time to sit down and have a chat with
each player and discuss their form, both from their perspective and his.
In saying that also Rudolf is a grown ass man if he wants to have a chat to Hannay he is also perfectly capable of organising that, and probably now that the interview pushed him to say it out loud they will have a chat.
For all we know Hannay regularly throws out an open invitation for anyone who wants to have a more indepth chat about how they are playing with the hope players will take feedback better if they seek it rather than if they have it pushed on them as criticism.
I guess you'd still hope if Hannay had any ideas about how Rudolf could play better he wouldn't hesitate to provide them, my suggestion of just tackle better seems a bit broad... as he was brought in as defensive coach you'd think he could narrow it down a bit more than that.
Maybe he hasn't figured it out yet. Can imagine it'd be tough for a rookie HC to call someone aside to discuss their form when you don't really have anything constructive for them.
I remember Fifita sooked that Bomber hadn't given him any feedback over preseason. In that case my perspective is the other side of that story wasn't too much of a mystery.... he was a 10+ year player with multiple rep games, pre season KPIs he would have agreed on and had come in massively overweight and my feeling is in that circumstance there is not really any feedback you should need from the coach. He just wanted his ego stroked for losing the weight his fat undisciplined arse put on in the first place and I can't really blame Bomber for not doing that.
This comment is slightly defensive of the situation in that I think maybe it is more of a lack of experience and expertise than necessarily and attitude issue from Hannay, but who actually knows. All we know is Rudolf is saying he wants more help and he hasn't asked for it until now, so hopefully it can now be provided.
Also I guess remember Hannay was never appointed as HC because anyone thought he would do a good job of it, it was just the easiest solution as a placeholder between Bomber and Fitz.
