Disagree hard on all of this almost. We're not an AFL club, this is the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks for a reason. It's our local footy team. The only thing I'd be happy rebranding that to is the Sutherland Shire Sharks. Our away jersey is average but the home jersey is one of the best-looking in the league. Same for our logo, we don't need to americanize it like the Sea Eagles did with theirs and turn it into some generic corporate marketing shlock.

Selling the stadium to the govt might be worth it if they don't **** with the club any and pay for the upgrades/a new stadium in the shire, but even then I'd be leery giving away the keys to an outside group.
Get the fans into SSS merch you reckon? Not sure that'll have global appeal

For some reason we ruined the ground with the redevelopment. Terrible design work.

We just keep reducing the capacity, with no improvement to amenities.

well the reason as money and leverage
we had none of either and had to sell it all to the developers so that we could survive. we lost control, and there was no money in it for them, to build in stadium upgrades etc.
in the end the club survives, we won a comp so its a net positive, however we have painted ourselves into a corner as to where we play and the space to grow.

at the current site, if we can't get the funds to completely re do the ET stand (you would basically want the new big stand at WIN Stadium in that spot and then re do the southern end to make that bigger ..seats at the front etc) then they really are stuck for what they can and cant do

Got brought up in the game day thread.

Was thinking about the "Sharks" brand, and thought, what makes the Sharks, the Sharks?

Are we battlers like the Rabbits? Are we snobs like the Roosters? Are we a family club like the Bulldogs? Are we wankers like the Dragons?

What are we? What makes us different, what is our identity?

Family club like the Bulldogs ?
Just don't park your car near Belmore with Oppositon stickers on your car after a Bulldogs loss or even a win for that matter
