I doubt we’d entertain moving away from Shark Park at the moment considering we’ve just built a commercial, entertainment and residential precinct with an active Shark Park supposedly the centrepiece. If Shark Park has no games being played at it watch the value of those apartments and commercial property go down.

We aint going anywhere imo.

With mens & womans sport growing all around the world I say we do need to go bigger. Gold Coast Titans stadium would be perfect for us. Holds around 28k and are now getting Soccer matches sent there, rugby world 7's has been there in the past, rugby union international matches, monster truck shows and all those kinds of things which bring in revenue.
I just think geography is against us mate, areas such as Parra or Homebush or Moore Park are more attractive if you're a promoter.
Governments support multi sport programmes. I don’t anticipate those other sports to contribute a lot, but I do see huge value in bringing the top level of those sports in the Shire under the Sharks branding.
Agree with the bolded.

Not sure why the value of apartments would decrease?

seymour shaw area may not be big enough anyway

gwaley park on taren point road theres atleast more room, but really the best option for a new build would be loftus at the tafe right?
As someone who lives in Loftus this would be a wet dream.

Honestly, getting to and from Shark Park is a nightmare.

It's a shame because Cronulla is such a beautiful part of the world. Imagine hosting the Rugby 7's there across 3 days. Northies for breakfast, all day at shark park, dinner at the leagues club then a night out in fusion. Promoters dream right there :cool:

I was having an interesting discussion about the future of the Cronulla Sharks last night with an influential RL individual, who fears the club certainly hasn’t secured its future in Cronulla and maybe not even the Shire.

My colleague noted the lack of industry and/or major benefactor as a big hindrance to the club growing commercially and keeping the relocation wolves at bay over the next 15 years.

His other major concern for the Sharks is the lack of opportunity to spread its geographical base beyond the Sutherland Shire, hemmed in to its existing border by other existing NRL clubs.

My counter to this was that the Sutherland Shire has one of Australia’s largest junior and grassroots sports participation rates. It is has a growing population and is also increasingly becoming one of the most affluent suburbs in Sydney. With all that said, I made my vision clear that the Sharks don’t need to grow their region, they just need to make those existing residents, fervent ambassadors.

The opportunity I see for the Sharks is to become a multi sports club operation and incorporating the elite of all club sports in the Shire under the Cronulla Sharks banner. If the Sharks brand was to align itself with the top basketball, soccer, netball, softball, baseball, cricket and the pathways beneath, the Sharks would secure their future and more importantly, potentially pave the way for a new multi purpose sports stadium/complex at Seymour Shore. I don’t see how Shark Park can remain a part of our long term future.
Maybe the " influential RL Individual " hasn't considered who is on the Board of our club & how they operate .

Maybe part of the draw comes from an active entertainment precinct and maybe thats harmed if Shark Park is no longer active for NRL? Just something to consider.
Maybe but I don't think it would tbh. I could be wrong, it happens from time to time!

Seymour Shaw would be a good location if additional parking could be found, and if the M6 is ever extended through the Shire (until then I think the 5 Ways would be a disaster).

The political will to make it happen would be enormous though, to get netball/soccer/rugby league/cricket to agree on anything, let alone the local residents. Just getting the skate park in was an enormous achievement.

It could be something to aim for in like a 15-year plan. If something like that doesn’t happen I also can’t see us surviving at shark park as an NRL team.

If we really wanted a larger stadium why not Solander fields just over from shark park? The space there is massive. Easily enough for a 20k stadium and probably more.

I don’t think it’s that much bigger, maybe 40m wider. Plus has all the disadvantages Shark Park has, poor public transport, electric wires etc

Soccer might be an issue if the National Second Division never gets off the ground. There’s no chance of a Sutherland team being admitted to the A-League anytime soon, maybe in the NSD down the track. Sutherland’s current NPL crowds might not be enough to justify any investment from Soccers end.

That guy in the states could be a major benefactor and I won’t be surprised if he gets more involved eventually

In regards to playing out of Shark Park it’s a tough one.

We need to upgrade the stadium but gov funding doesn’t seem close but if we leave I can’t see us getting many people travelling to another stadium, also what stadium would it be? SFS makes no sense geographically and can’t blame them if no one wants to go there all the time.

It would be nice for the club to come out with a stadium plan, even if it’s minor stuff each year.

Let’s not forget when the leagues club eventually opens it’s a cash cow when games are on
I hear you BUT one thing the club does not do well at all is communicate.

Lyall Gorman killed it in this space and made sure to maximise whatever he could and got the brand pumping in community, social media, engagement, brand identity was strong, game days were pumping etc

The current brand isn’t as strong and the club (CEO to coach to media team) need to do a better job in communicating it to get more stakeholders in and engagement, they are very very weak at this

There is no buy in

We will never get funding to upgrade or rebuild a private stadium.

The only chance we would ever get is for us to give up our stadium and rely on local / state government to build a new stadium in Sutherland Shire.

Prime location would be the fields at Loftus / Sutherland. Plenty of public transport and more central to the Shire.

Will never happen anyway.

More than likely our stadium will get to a stage where it doesn't meet NRL standards and be become like Tigers - playing most games at Allianz and a couple at Shark Park for old times sake.

Now I'm depressed 😔

Playing all our games out of allianz is a death sentence. Nobody wants to pull an hour's driving into the city with the attending parking or do an hour and 40 mins on public transport to see every home game. If the NRL tries to pull that one on us the club needs to get them to **** off.

At least once our club is built we will have brand new facilities for our corporates.

That is usually what becomes lacking first as grounds get older.
