Hey Groovers .
While most of us love the Jets and Sharks relationship as it has benefits for BOTH Clubs.
I am wondering after hearing Arrow ( NRL360 ) say how Latrell showed his passion holding up a potential try scorer in an opposed session with their Reggies ( NSW Cup side ) today.
I am wondering , do we do our opposed sessions against the Jets and IF not is this detrimental especially to our defence ?
Can Snowy or Burgess let us know if we do opposed sessions with the Jets in training regularly ?
I don’t actually know, but based on training photos I’d say the oppose sessions would be run a against a team made up of players not selected in the 17, with the better Flegg players or T&T players added in. Anyone carrying an injury would sit out.

It’s not unusual for teams to play hard in oppose sessions. It’s the norm actually. If I was Max Riolo playing against the big boys at training, I’d want to show Fitz that I’ve been paying attention to what I’ve been learning, and that I can put on a play against an NRL defence.

I love the Jets and I love how they are our feeder, but it would be nice to have our own reserve grade team.

But I know, expenses.

the jets team train alone at their own field in marrickville

the guys named in 18-21 will train with them 2 days before the game (depending on our game)

as an example, if the jets play saturday, our boys who won't be a part of the game day squad will train with them on Thursday but return to us for our captains run

no opposed sessions with the jets unless its finals

I have a question
Does anybody know the current status of Max Bradbury and Joshua Finau ?
I have noticed for several weeks they have not been named in the Jets Squad, and being this late in the season, was wondering if they are coming back?
Also what does " OWB " stand for? My ignorance tho

max bradbury has spent most of the season with flegg, think he picked up an injury

finau is in and out of the squad all the time

Might it be a factor adding to our POOR defence ?
Surely it's more advantageous to have best 2 squads training together and would give Fitz a better understanding of the abilities/limitations of the cattle in 2nd squad first hand .

Official Whipping Boy :)

We assign a tag to the player who cops the most criticism. Not necessarily someone playing poorly, but someone who the forum is going over the top with. Just a bit of fun. Nikora and Trindall have the honour of holding it prior to Moylan. Brailey has been in second place a fair bit.

Need to vote on a new one if Moylan stays out of the lineup for a while.

We haven't seen anything on those two guys. They've both been missing a while, and the question has been asked on here a few times. Nobody seems to know.

Thanks Mate ,
What do you think.
Is it better for the Sharks if 2nds train separately or it doesn't really impact ?

in the above scenario, they get 3 days with us and 2 days with the jets

some like trindall and tracey who were close to first grade might only get one day

they spend more time with us than they do at newtown

Do other clubs have regular opposed sessions against the 2s?

I would have thought the Rabbits may have done it as they were coming off a bye?

Was more thinking whole Squads opposed more often might be a good thing rather than just a few players coming back.
Also easier for ALL Sharks teams to learn the style we want at play in first grade .
Just thoughts

Ahhh d'oh haha
I get it now, thanks!
Honestly fanbases stateside, have far worse designations haha
I have followed keenly the observations of our current OWB, on one hand I sympathsize with him, because he was so injury plagued and done basically two seasons ago and obviously put in a lot of hard work. I know the guy can tackle, and tackle with brutality, I have seen it. Idk what is the problem, he may not be able to move laterally like he once did or he just doesn't work in the coach's scheme of defence, I am not educated enough to know.

Thank you for letting me know about the status of the two players, I realize now that Finau was Flegg . Hopefully whatever is the problem with either it isn't serious, need all hands on deck, eyes on the prize haha

That's probably a good shout.

Worth noting also a squad of 30ish can usually find 13 people to stand in front of the other 13 without too much issue. As I said before I'm not sure every random reserve player would take a day off work to do an extra session consistently.

Just as a guestimate and trying to account for current injuries here is a 1st and 2nd match up which could probably be done without anyone needing to be 'brought in' from Jets

Kennedy Hiroti
Katoa Stonestreet
Ramien Talakai
Tracey Iro
Mulitalo Rodwell
Trindall Atkinson
Hynes Puru
Kaufusi Hazelton
Brailey Berrell
Rudolf Tapuha
Nikora Williams
Colquhoun Finau
Finucane McInnes

Bradbury, Taukamo, C. Uele, Fearnley, (Moylan) all still available to slot in. Hunt potentially too

Likely some of the younger boys could be available (and some likely do have extra days of the week they are with main squad?) and keen too and I'm sure as an occasional thing one or two Jets players might make a call in work - I just don't think a 'Jets team' is running against the Sharks too often in season, and for Rabbitohs I think it'd be similar even with their reserves operating through same club

Jets game is streaming tomorrow on Newtown Facebook page 3pm.

For anyone going to Beer, Food and Footy Festival, Sosaia Feki is playing in the early Mojo Homes Cup game at 12:30pm (for Western Suburbs Devils against De La), along with Wyndham Peachey.

Only the Devils team list is up:

De La's team list from previous game was here, a number of the SG Ball squad were in that:

Nice shout out to young gun Nikora Williams here.

Haven't heard of many of the others. Would love to hear more about Rudolf Tapuha and Tracey Iro.
