it is finished, just hasnt been announced as this is a far bigger issue plus we have a right of reply before it goes public

people need to stop aiming their anger at barry, just look at the tigers, if you dont report, you get caught and your punishment is way more severe

It's an interesting argument. Given that its likely that most if not all clubs flout the rules over salary cap and other restrictions and\or dodgy deals,
how many of them are gearing up to self report or are busy destroying evidence?

The most successful businesses in the world are the most dodgy. You don't get anywhere by being nice and humble and always playing by the rules.
Most eventually get caught but have made a motza by that time.

This is the NRL, we're not making a motza and never will.

We're not an important club in the overall scheme of things and never will be.

Don't give the ****wits an excuse to hammer us which could lead to death.

If we aren't ambitious enough to think we can be profitable, valuable and important to the NRL we wont survive.
Obviously they are looking to remove a Sydney team. Eventually we wont fit their criteria if our prime directive is to just survive.

Never said we shouldn't be ambitious.

Thinking your not important in the scheme of things, and never will be is far from being ambitious.
I know you didnt say it but it is implied.

Not at all mate.

The NRL will always have their favourites, we know who they are. We will never be one of them.

There's nothing wrong with excepting that, doesn't mean we can't try and be a successful club.

Being poorly run isn't going to achieve it though.

Fair point. In the end it comes down to resources, mainly cash. If you've got it you can hire the best people.
And you can throw enough cash at problems to make them disappear. That's what the NRL favorites do.

Hasn't worked that well for the Broncos. Cash isn't everything.

Welp haven't been following the news much since I'm overseas. But it's nice to know we are ethically going down the drain and giving the NRL scumbags a chance to move us on. Good fun.

It didn't take a genius to know that Flanno might be in touch with someone in the club regarding the year after his ban. How on earth would we have been expected to sign players for the next year without the coach having a say. It's a piss take all the way. It was an idiotic part to be included in the ban, and it's ****ed us 5 years on.

Anyone else feel this issue will go away before next season starts? That Flanno will be head coach again when they run out on the park next year?

Now everyone knows i am not the biggest Flanno fan. But the amount of mis information thats currently out there is astounding.

The bit i am stuck on is......
Greenburg comes out and says "Flanno was not to have any contact with the club officials or players during his ban"
Greenburg is then reminded that Flanno signed his contract extension whiles he was out on suspension
Greenburg then says "Flanno was not to have any contact with club officials or players in regards to coaching for the duration of his suspension. Contract Extensions are ok though"
Greenburg is then told that the emails were about retention for the following season, not coaching the current season where he was suspended.
Greenburgs response.........https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wT9XS_TvzQ

I have a feeling the NRL might not actually have a leg to stand on legally in regards to deregistering him, nor having him stood down and are hoping that the Sharks panick and give him the flick (ala Todd Carney) and save them having to actually do anything themselves.

It isnt finished in respect to sponsors which was what Barry was getting at.

I dont blame him for self reporting, but surely you get your chickens in order before letting the wolves into the coop.

Unfortunately at the end of his ban back in 2014 (I assume) he would have had to prove somehow how he has 'reformed' and met the requirements of his initial suspension. I would say he would've submitted a report or gone on record or something saying he has had no contact with the club, hasn't been involved in player retention/recruitment etc blah blah therefore you can let me coach again. Years on they find in fact he actually has had contact - NRL would've cracked it because they feel like he's cheated them and now they've come down hard.

Disclaimer I actually know nothing.

Also sucks because they extended his contract - he would've been preparing for his return like no tomorrow. What else are you supposed to do all year FFS, become a freelance tiler then walk in January 1 and go alright everyone so who the F is playing for us this year? Any new players?
Dumb from the club as well - there's obviously been initiation of conversation from them hence the large fine.

Yeah I saw it reported recently he could discuss 2015 still while banned, although I'm not sure if the emails that were 'uncovered' relate to that or related more to the 2014 season.

Sounds like Barry, not having been present or involved, has deferred to Flanagan whether to fight it or not.
