That was a good tough effort by the boys last night, very committed. Really the roosters scored all their points in 5 minutes so defensively we were pretty good last night. Our attack was OK but im just glad we toughed out a win. Bring on the CHEATS.

Thats it mate, they scored 2 tries in 3minutes before half time. If sharks can defend like that they wouldnt be where they are on the table. We've never had many points in us, but defended teams out of games, the for and against this year shows that they havent done that.

Im very dubious tho, and will be shot down for even mentioning it.

Someone placed a 14,000 or 41,000 dollar wager on the sharks at big odds to win that game. And look at those 3 or 4 bombed tries from the Roosters, it smells sus to me, but Ill take the win anyway

Was it just me, or was the atmosphere at the game a lot better last night? Right from kick off it seemed a lot more positive than usual.

Only 8,900 there but it felt like much more to me.

What's the procedure there? The Ref never asked the Video ref to look at it, so the Video Ref isn't allowed to make a call on it?

Also, if the Ref notices something like that in the replay, can they make a call on it?

Daniel Conn also elbowed Gardner in the back of the head after the last try. 50/50 call for an 8 point try in my book.

I am pretty sure once it is sent to him the video ref can look at anything (except forward passes). If the ref sees it in a replay I doubt he can make a ruling.
Judiciary will watch the game and will either charge him or not, I expect not.

Yeah that elbow was pretty dog but I would have been surprised if it had been a penalty try.

What a great night at Shark Park!

I watched both games and it was great to have two victories on the night. The under 20s did really well, they jumped out to a 16-0 lead and even though they didn't go on to a big score, they defended stoutly and kept the Roosters at bay. Good performers in the Under 20s included captain Warwick Carter, fullback Callum (sorry can't spell his surname), Chad Townsend, who organised things so well and Matt Wright and Albert Kelly also contributed. Our forward pack was very strong with Jake Anzelark and Waipouri making good metres up the middle. Great victory by the boys to win 20-16.

The top side looked like they were going the way of previous games, letting leads slip with a loss of focus and terrible defence. At half time, they trooped off a little dazed I think but its a credit to the players and the coaching staff to say they never gave up and really went up a peg in the second half.

My biggest bugbear this year have been referee decisions that have gone against us but I'm happy to say this didn't happen last night. There were a few video ref decisions that looked dodgy but when I looked at them closer they probably got them right. I even thought the Todd Carney double movement could have gone their way and I thought we milked a few penalities for strips and holding down. Still amazes me how many times opposition players lay all over us and yet we never get a penalty.

But all that might have gone the Roosters way only goes part of the way to evening up all the bad luck we have had over the year.

Only 9000 turned up which was again disappointing - playing a top four side and being a chance to shine on TV (the game was on delay so using this as an excuse not to go is unacceptable) so many more should have been there.

My congrats also to Iron Shark with the lap of the ground in his 67 Valiant - good on you mate - the only bad thing you did was to let Glenn Wheeler out so he could make some noise. Actually can't complain there either, he's much better than the other guy who is an absolute pain. The club has to get rid of him. He yells into the microphone like we are 10,000 miles away and his voice is irritating and annoying. No idea what he was up to at half time and if anyone can tell me what the surfboard was for, I'd be grateful!

Hopefully we can travel to Melbourne next week and do the same thing to the Storm!

Who was the best player for the Sharks last night? Jason Ryles. I want to give him some votes in the 3 2 1, but it wont let me.

Roosters are vulnerable

A week ago the Roosters were talked about as premiership favourites on the back five straight wins and an attacking style that was blowing away all their rivals.

How quickly things can change in the NRL.

But a narrow loss to the Dragons last Sunday followed by Friday night's shock 18-12 defeat to the lowly Sharks has raised serious questions about their title credentials.

They are suddenly no longer certainties for a top-four spot and with a tough clash with the in-form Gold Coast Titans up next on Monday week.

"We are vulnerable, that's where we are right now and we need to regroup fast," Roosters coach Brian Smith admitted after the Sharks loss.

"We have a Monday night game at home next week and that gives us a long turnaround and we need every day of it, that's for sure."

"On a couple of occasions we were in a rush to do things, when we needed to do things calmly."

"They scrapped and scrambled and did all the things they as do well and instead of us understanding that we tried to blow them away by 20 or 30.

"We needed to be more patient and respectful of the rules that were in place tonight....it was a real dogfight."

And it was a fight the Roosters clearly struggled to handle with Smith admitting the inexperience of a lot of his squad worked against them against Cronulla.

"We just looked excitable from the start," he said.

"Every time something half happened we tried to finish it off and make it a try."

"A couple of times we had walk in tries but the execution of the play wasn’t tidy, it was too loose and frantic at times."

Roosters halfback Mitchell Pearce, who took some of the blame for his side's loss on his shoulders, said it was up to the players to respond to the mini-slump they are in.

"It's a matter now of how good we want to be and how good we are, we need show that the next few weeks," he said.

"We've got to get a balance in our game."

"We had a run where things opened up for attack but going into the finals teams defend a lot better and we've got to get into a grind more and play a bit more composed."

"It comes down to myself, I've got to get the balance where we're still taking our chances but just playing more composed."

Fullback Anthony Minichiello added: "We had heaps of opportunities to score some points or just get an extra set and we would fumbled the ball or went for the last pass when we should have held it."

"We just didn't set things up right in the first half, we tried to score off every set of six and in the end we dropped way to much ball."

If you get the chance to see the Post Match interview with Flanno I suggest you watch it, He mentions that Gardner will be a shark FOR LIVE and that it is exciting to see a great fullback back in sharks colours(last one he was refering to was peachey). Also if you have foxtel you can watch the main snippets of it on channel 513.

Also how good is it that we THE SHARKS get PRIORITY over the broncos and eels game on foxsports news.

SHARK FOR LIFE =] hahas couldn't help myself
But yeah thats very exciting to hear from the coach.
I'm sure it will further boost Gardner's confidence and hopefully he can continue developing into a fine player. Love his courage for a little guy.

Off topic, but wow at the awesome young talent the NRL has got coming through at fullback.

I think Dugan, Coote, Gardner and Hoffman will all be world Class and rep players. Add these guys to the already established fullbacks like Slater, Hayne, Gidley and Stewart!

Watching kittens being skinned alive would be less disturbing than this massacre will be.

Carney and Pearce will have a field day up the middle of our lazy ruck and marker work. SKD playing down Covell's side; **** knows what sort of point scoring records he'll break.

i have a real bad feelin about this game!
nothin a few beers on the night wont fix!

i wish i could come on here full of confidence but lets face it. we're gunna get smoked like we do every week

Chooks are gonna have a field day.

Lets trot the same **** team out that hasnt one in forever and hope they can compete with one of the form teams of the comp. Is Flanagan going for Rickys losing streak record? He is off to a good start.

They have dominated us so far so they will have more in the tank + they have players qho can put us to the sword (e.g carney).... we have gallen and snowden who will try their ass off but wont win us anything

HA HA - Epic FAIL. Shame on you blokes! Have you no faith? I knew we could do it (well, I hoped we could!):D:p:borat:cheers:good::Yes:

Too keep the roosters to 16 points would be bloody good

We did better than that! We kept 'em to 12! Fantastic, gutsy defence tonight. We missed some tackles we should have made but we scrambled well in cover. The only downside was the five minutes before half-time when we put our cue in the rack and waited for the break.

Daniel Conn also elbowed Gardner in the back of the head after the last try. 50/50 call for an 8 point try in my book.

I thought exactly the same thing, that was a dog act and definitely deserved some sort of action. Should have gone on report. He was not attempting anything that could have stopped the try, other than to give Gardener a cheap shot in the back of the head.

Also wanted to say well done to IronShark, driving JAWS67 around the ground before the game, with Glenn Wheeler in the passenger's seat. Nice work!

Yeah but the jaws67 mobile didnt come around past the southern stand, we were waiting.

Yeah, that was great fun. Had my son and his mate in the back, waving their Sharks flags, they thought it was unreal. Only downside was the ground manager wouldn't let us do a full lap around the ground as they were wooried we might get in the way of the players warm up. Having said that, I made sure I drove straight through the middle of the Roosters as I made my way off the field. The look on Anasta's face when I drove past and told him he sucked was priceless!

So, sorry I didn't get down you end Gando, maybe next time. I hope we can do it again as the reception was fantastic, everyone was cheering and waving, I though it really lifted the crowd.

As I was leaving the ground, an old guy in Sharks gear gave me the thumbs up and said, "Now that's dedication mate!" Made my night! (Up to that point!)

juat watched my first game as a sharky fan and must say what the **** all the worrying about. to me .by what i saw last night wont take to much to turn this team around ,you already have the no1 ingredient ### TICKER ### cant coach that stuff comes from within and sharkys have **** loads i reckon. just got to dig deep and get used to winning.confidence is everything. a few more wins like that at the end of this season and the boys will be beaming.makes for a very exciting build up for next year. im impressed kick arse sharkies:cheers:cheers:cheers:cheers:cheers:cheers

Good onya mate, great post. Some of our grizzled veterans need to take a leaf out of your book and learn to look at our strengths and not just focus on the negatives.

There is plenty of potential in this team, we just beat one of the premiership contenders. Not only that, we kept 'em to two tries despite the fact they are probably the benchmark for attack in the NRL.

Of course there is plenty of need for improvement but we have the foundations of a very good team here.
