I wish we'd stop talking about "respect" and "competing". I want here Flano talk about quality.

The chooks are complaining about the refereeing lol, had a look at their forums and most of the threads are about how they get barely any penalties

agree AB, while i love us to win its important we dont fall into the trap of playing ugly to win, imo its part of what got us to this position we are in now.

I remember Ricky saying in the press confernce after our first game last yr (yes thats right round 1, 2009) when we won the game but were critizied for how we won, Ricky said he would prefer to win ugly than lose pretty. I agree to win is the be all & end all but history & facts suggest we have won somwhere between 14-17 games at a guess for this season & last season & most of those wins have been ugly wins. Whats even more concerning is all those loeses & there have been crap loads of them were UGLY painful losses.

<EDITED>

Roosters captain Braith Anasta received 20 stitches to his forehead after he collided with Cronulla Sharks fullback Nathan Gardner.

Anasta was placed on report for the incident but he has since been cleared, along with Frank-Paul Nuuausala who collared the custodian earlier in the match.

Gallen's Ripping Sharks Win

You little ripper. I can’t possibly express in words just how ecstatic I am right now. Flanno has his first win and he is just as thrilled as I am.

Gallen's Ripping Sharks Win

You little ripper. I can’t possibly express in words just how ecstatic I am right now.

Flanno has his first win and he is just as thrilled as I am.

I can’t remember the last time we sang the team song that loud and proud which was a really great feeling.

We were very confident after last week’s loss to the Warriors and spoke about the extra effort all week.

It’s come to a point where we just had to stop the talk and put in the extras.

Our defence was solid throughout the game and we all put in for each other which I think you could really see.

They had a lot of ball and kicked two 40/20’s yet we still managed to hold them out.

I thought our attack was actually a little ordinary and the last three minutes of the first half was extremely disappointing as we let Anasta and Kenny-Dowell in for tries.

I lost my cool at halftime and gave the side a huge spray. I could tell you what I said but I’m not allowed to write expletives so I will keep it clean.

One of the boys got upset and said that this happens every week but Flanno was quick to rip in and keep the talk positive which got the idea out of our heads and kept us focused.

Tim Smith played well for us despite missing our final training session on Thursday to see his partner give birth to a baby boy.

Dean Collis scored a great try for us and should take a lot of confidence out of this game not only for next week but also leading into next year.

He hasn’t been playing to his full potential this year so I hope this game will be a turning point for him because he is a really talented player.

Snowden and Douglas laid the platform for us once again and Nathan Gardner has been the find of the season.

Next year will be a big test for him once teams start to figure him out a bit but he will take a lot of confidence out of the year he’s had.

It was just one of those good tough games, plenty of energy and heat in it which I love playing.

Ben Pomeroy hurt his ribs and couldn’t move after the game but appeared a lot better when I saw him today.

This round was the 'Call to Arms' in aid of men’s cancer which is something that is close to our hearts at the Sharks.

Jon Mannah was 18th man for us last night which is great to see after what he has been through this past year.

I have donated my boots from the match with all proceeds going to the Cancer Council so CLICK HERE if you would like to make a bid.

We have another fiery game next week when we take on Melbourne even though it will count for nothing.

We can’t make the eight, they can’t make the eight but we will be going out to prove something against their big name players. Let’s see if we can make it two in a row!

Thank god for Gal, his honesty is exactly what we need!

Agreed, I have really enjoyed reading his thoughts after games. I really hope the media doesn't take advantage when he is captain next year but reporting on bits out of context.

I really enjoyed this game and while the Roosters had the chances to put us away in the first half with all the opportunities we had, it was our in your face defence and great attitude that stopped them and got us the win. I was really proud to watch the game live and then again at home.

Tim Smith still has improvement left in him and alot of it, not finding touch off a penalty for example is unforgivable in our club's situation. However some good kicking and a killer pass makes that the 2nd best game he has ever played for us imo and I hope he can build on it.

The forwards were awesome. Gal and Snowden were unstoppable.

Barrett underperformed again imo and i hope hasn't already checked out. Hope to see him leave in good form over the next few weeks.

Gardner was great considering he was hit high every chance they got to slow him down.

Funniest moment of the game, the action was going on very close to the area I was sitting. Fergo was being held around the ankle and lets out a girlish shriek to the touch judge. So funny live, then when I saw it at home Vossy picked it up as well and also found it hilarious.

Edit: Oh forgot. Poms was again great and his intercept was a key part in winning us the game. He has really turned his game around since his surgery and I am very happy. Glad he will be around next season.
