I think the boys went in a bit off their game, either cocky from trial or anxious. The the knights rattled them with line speed and aggressive defence and totally threw us off.

Dropped balls etc beat us far more than the quality of the knights did

I reckon the players should have attempted to offload the ball a bit more, it keeps the ball flowing, gives us more opportunities too. Look at how many times Newcastle offloaded the ball. We use to offload a fair bit but we seemed to have lost the ability to offload a bit.

They were up so quick in defence (in numbers) we rarely had a chance to offload!

We have plenty of offloads in us still I’m sure.

That is the major disappointment for me. They did that to us, but we just stood back and let them run.

Yep

And we just kept going one out to flat footed runners who got demolished.

A couple times I thought they were offside but mostly it was a good effort by them and we just let them do it.

We really missed Val at the back ,Moylan tried hard but will probably take a few games for him to settle back into the FB role. Definitely outplayed through the forwards . Our defence was good. Halves a Work in progress. Hopefully we learnt a few things and can bounce back next week .

The amount of times they were offside was ridiculous.

The sharks rarely get bullied in the forwards when it does happen it’s a hard pill to swallow, even harder when it’s the knights sticking it to us.

So if you see the opposition getting away with it you push the envelope also.

We did once and got pinged for it I think!

Rewatching Katoa juggle - I thought it was harsh to overrule on field call to say he deliberately knocked it forward but rewatching a clip of it the fact he has to turn around to regather means he knocked it forward by less forward momentum than he had himself... 100% should have stood by refs call of try

I was gutted by this decision but apparently the rule is you can’t intentionally batt the ball over an opponent and it doesn’t matter if it goes backwards or forwards.

The play the ball was incredibly slow. The pundits we congratulating the refs for not blowing the whistle but I think it ended up meaning the sides were playing to two different interpretations of the ruck rules.

Maybe we should have adapted better to how the refs were controlling the game but we simply dropped too much ball (62% completion rate). We dropped the pill on the first tackle 3 times. That’s just not helpful!

5.3. Once play has started any player who is onside or not out of play can run with the ball kick it in any direction and throw or knock it in any direction other than towards his opponents’ dead ball line (See Section 10 for Knock-on and Forward Pass).

I don’t care what the rule book says, how can anybody say he deliberately batted the ball forward, especially when the on field call was try.

We shouldn’t be looking for reasons to disallow tries.

Was probably said earlier but I'm surprised we didn't have a shot at field goal.
i'm not , I think we were a bit cocky and casual in this game thinking it would just happen and the points would come and that our defense wont let the knights get ahead. we wern't looking to grind out a win and prob kept thinking surely the passes will start to stick and we will get another try or 2. but also we were completely unorganised in attack so thats a factor not getting a field goal away as well.

Yeah Brown’s press conference was small time. Digging up comments Gal made from the past and saying “would like to know what he thinks of us now”...

To be honest, Knights were quite poor. We cut them open from our own half more than they did us in our 20. They didn’t impress me at all, if we had played to our potential, we would have beaten them very comfortably.

I'm sure Gal still thinks Browny's team is trash lol. what's he want from the bloke a pat on the back and a hug? Gal speaks his mind and newcastle are junk
maybe when newy win more than one game against us and put 60 points on us Browny can talk it up

There's a weather thread?

well the refs knew katoa was gunna score on that penatly try so ofcourse they would also know what he was thinking knocking the ball forward...

I thought the same when they started to spread it Gards. I was surprised, but I didn't mind the cockiness to tell you the truth. We need to believe.

Flanno would have blown his fu fu valve though.

i didn't think we were ever gunna take the 2 this game which was actually a relief until we actually did (kicks in front are boring and wastes of game time). prob was the right decision considering how bad our execution in attack was
