Can beat Newcastle, but can we beat Ponga? He’s going to be a handful for the entire competition this year.

Ponga is good but they are going to have a lot of combinations to try and build (so do we but not as many). They will be good at the back end of the year but may struggle a bit at the start. Should be a good hit out but we should beat them

without any confidence I’ll say we can do em 19-12 SJ field goal in the 77th

We start seasons pretty badly, knights to pipe a win then go on to have a disaster of a season

I’d be happy with that crystal ball prediction.

Knights 1.81 favourites for this game v the sharks @ $2. Let’s see if tonight’s trial has any impact on that

Again only a trial and first one for Knights but while Ponga is a weapon he seemed to be their key in plans A, B & C. Says to me you shut him and their left edge down you'll go along way to winning.

Doubt trial will mean much for odds. We're playing mostly fringe FG'er but Knights were almost full strength for their first 40.

for some reason I thought we were playing the knights tonight before that comment. Even though I just watched them play not long ago. Derp. I don’t think tonight’s game will have an impact either :inyouget

I’m guessing we’ll see something a lot closer to a full strength lineup for this one yeah? Hopefully a solid hitout against a decent team.

It's the round 1 thread Crazy so I would hope that we put up a full strength team for this one!

Tatus, you've certainly gone early on this thread.

Yep, Ponga will be the key and we have history when it comes to being beaten by just the one player.
Johns in the early 00's, Hayne several times and Johnson (although he is playing for us now).

If take any "W" for this game even by a field goal margin.
Bank the 2 from round 1 to kick off our season.

Oh ****. Thought this was the 2nd trial game thread.

Tatus just got a bit trigger happy but it’s good talking footy again!
Maybe that’s what his intention was starting the thread this far out.
Hats off to you Tatus!

Don’t wanna show all our cards too early!
I say we leave someone back until mid season. Maybe Graham?

Great idea!
I’ll second that.
He can come in fresh to help make a run towards the finals.

What position is he playing.. hopefully five eighth; Ponga @ fullback is a lot more dangerous

Yeah he seems more posted to the left edge in the #6. I know at #1 he did most his work on the left but he'd at least hover around posing a threat in the middle as well.

Watson's no slouch, either. You'd think it's a more dangerous team with both of them in it.
