it's just a relief to have the footy back so we can all argue amongst ourselves on the internet for the next 8 months before reverting back to bagging our cricketers and moaning about the heat in the weather thread

I watched the game, I think everyone has to relax, it's only 1st rd & we've got a new coach, yes we made way too many errors but I think everyone should be pleased with our defence. Newcastle had so much possession (our fault included though) but they could only manage 2 tries, 1 intercept by former player Lee included. We will only improve over the course of the year. I wasn't impressed by Brownys press conference though, it's their first time in over 3 years they've beaten us & acting like it's the end of the world, criticising a legend of the game all of a sudden aswell.

Nikora was very strong on debut, we have to keep him for sure. Dugans try I'm not sure why that was disallowed, it looked a fair try to me for all money. May have changed the complexion of the game aswell. Not being biast here but the penalty try I thought was fair, Lee took Katoa out for all money. Maybe it should have just been a penalty but Lee certainly took Katoa out.

Onwards & upwards. Go Cronulla!

Yeah Brown’s press conference was small time. Digging up comments Gal made from the past and saying “would like to know what he thinks of us now”...

To be honest, Knights were quite poor. We cut them open from our own half more than they did us in our 20. They didn’t impress me at all, if we had played to our potential, we would have beaten them very comfortably.

Yes we did make quite a few breaks from our half & just over 1/2 way line, 1st half if Dugan had passed that I reckon we would have been away to score aswell. That was no where near the team we can play like tonight. 1st game we always make it tough for ourselves somehow too haha.

I sort of sat there all night waiting for a knights intercept. Was fairly obvious a couple of scrum plays what was going to happen but the passes never found there mark, like fifs standing at 5/8 then Johnson standing miles away waiting for the off load. Those plays and setups Had more of a Benny hill/goodies sketch feel to them than a well oiled machine. Plenty were flat and/or off their game, I’m not going to crucify anyone at the stake just yet but have written a couple of names in my black book that would want to up their anti...

We were putrid last night. Couldn't even execute flannoball. Safe to say we will get better. Go Sharks.

Obviously not good enough, and we need to improve, but I’m confident we will.

I’m not gonna call for individual’s heads just yet.

We were ****ing attrocious. Slow. Predictable. Absolute ****.

Goal line defence though was a huge positive imo. Showed a lot of grit and determination.

Onto next week.
