27 isn't exactly old.

It's 5 years older than Nu.

We are at a point where if we don't give Nu a spot in NRL team he will go elsewhere. Do we want that to happen because we chose to use Mortimer instead? I know I don't.

[QUOE=LLmac;1020409]It wasn't a good game to watch at all. The things I noticed:

1. we gave our kicker no protection at all on the last and thus we kicked horribly all night long giving the Broncos great field position to start their 6. And yet we didn't put any pressure at all on the Broncos for their kick and they were getting good kicks away all night. It's not rocket science.
2. We lacked so much speed out wide, it was like we were running in slow motion. Leutele nearly got caught out a hand full of times. Beale is too slow for a fullback, he showed zero urgency to get to the ball when Roberts scored, that was a game changing try. Barba or Holmes would have gotten there in time.
3. Brailey looked great, defended well, quick scoot out of hooker really impressed me. He has some speed and some regression in defense. His passing is top notch. I know Seggy would still be better but not at the price tag he comes at when we have Brailey there and not far off ready to play full time NRL.
4. Tagatese was disappointing, he had zero impact off the bench. He needs to ship up or ship out. Let's give Williams a shot.
5. Heighno didn't impress, surely Capewell is a much much much better option here. He is half the age and can cover nearly every position on the field.
6. Brisbane though about 14 forward passes, if I can see than so can the ref.
7.Nu off the bench had no impact but I still think we need him there. He can cover hooker or the halves if need be.
8. Usual suspects were tough (Gal, Lewis, Fifita, Graham)
9. Chad needs to take on the line more, he did it once and setup a try.[/QUOTE]

Things I noticed are.

Gal Is old as ****
Beale Is as useless as a bag of dicks

In your head, rent free
i have never been gals biggest fan for different reasons, but calling him soft, old and not bending the line are far fetched reasons to bag on him

Just my observations of the game

Beale - caught out a few times in defence bagged him self a try. His attack was ok
Lee - caught out a few times in defence and lead a try in. Only had less than a week to build a combo with anyone
Ricky - made some nice runs and near breaks and got himself that nice try. I was happy with his performance
Bird - missed a few tackles, didn't offer much
Feki - looked slow, made some decent metres. Happy with his performance
Maloney - looked dangerous at times, he looks to making nice combo with chad at times
Chad - his game was up and down I though, some good reads and some average missed tackles
Fifita - play the ball properly and hold the bloody ball.
Bradley - was happy with his debut, had made 30 odd tackles and had a few good darts from dummy half. We looked less potent when he went off
Prior - had good runs and always put in effort
Lewis / Wadeo and Gallen - did their thing and looked dangerous as usual.
Boggie - had a small error in him but made some good yards
Heigho - offered less this yr. maybe bring in capewell
Tags - made a few runs but not much impact
Nu- he offered nothing at dummy half.

Errors were a main issue for us
Refs decisions and judgement of the 10 was average at best

Beale's attack was very average imo. Hospital pass to Leutele who turned it over. Kick returns are like he's running backwards. Reminds me of the days when we had Gordon and Simmons at Fullback.

I didn't think Nu was too bad, in fact if he backed himself a bit more I think he could have caused some real problems.

Beale's 'step' at the end of the second half looked like it was in slow motion.

Can't wait for Val to get back in there.

Sorry mate, didn't realise it took time for halves to figure out how to kick to an 8 foot winger. Rugby League must be a more complicated game than I thought.

Its good to learn new things, HB. Don't hesitate to hit me up for any more nuggets of knowledge mate always happy to help.

Dont get all the panic and emotion going on after this game.

I was pleasantly surprised we breached the broncs quite easily, it was dropped balls in attack that crippled us, not to mention no help from the ref on 1 or 2 occasions when the balls was kicked out in a tackle to be ruled as a loose carry.
Defensive issues will get better when players settle.
Were a team without Ennis, Barba and Val.... 3 of our most vital cogs last season.

- Brailly looks great. He perhaps needed a spell late in the first half. I would be very happy having him start for 25 mins, have Seggy off the bench untill the 60-70th minute and Brailly finish the game off. His defence is amazing, especially when hes fresh.
- Nu Brown is defs not a hooker. Way too slow.
- Our Forwards were amazing in chunks. I dont think we will see all 3 of Prior, Fifs and Gallen off at the same time again as that is too much quality off the park. Once there all fit i am very happy with this department.

- The back 3 will look miles better after 3-5 games when its more settled.
- Townsend had a mixed game but his runs on the last tackle were fantastic and just what he needed in his game to bring that doubt in the opp defence.

To Summarise. Many positives and with Val and Seggy coming into the side it will improve ten fold.
