We going back to three brands in 2026. Toyota’s joining Supercars. Walkinshaw Andretti United will be the flagship team for Toyota (currently running Mustangs driven by Chaz Mostart and Ryan Wood). They’ll be driving GR Supras.

It never felt right for Walkinshaw Racing (formerly the Holden Racing Team and Mobile Racing, Peter Brock’s old team) to have that Ford logo soil its paintwork, while it might not be a Holden or Chev badge in 2026, at least it wont be a blue oval on a car in a spot that means everything to old Brocky and Holden fans.
Same, first thing I thought when I heard this was, At least they (Walkinshaw AU) wont be getting around in a ford anymore.

Eh, never felt right having Lowndesy drive a Ford anyway. Brocky’s protege in a Ford? Unthinkable. 😏😂😉

I’d compare it more to if DJR Shell or Tickford/Stone Brothers/FPV ever switched to a Holden. Those two teams are the very fabric of Ford racing history in this country for decades, like Mobile Racing was for Holdens.

Yeah, didn’t SBR actually do that?

Or they’re now Erebus?

It’s good that another manufacturer enters the competition. But would be better if a chev team took over Toyota homologation.

Tbh, I don’t even watch Supercars anymore. After Scotty Mac left, the sport just wasn’t as good.

I’m really enjoying F1 nowadays, especially with a Piastri doing so well. And next Jack Doohan enters the field.

Exciting times.

Oh **** sorry, im an idiot, your right.
Stone Brothers Racing were not formed out of the old Tickford Racing team. They were initially Alan Jones Racing. The Stone Brothers bought Alan out after the 97 season. Thats when they brought in Jason Bright to drive the Pirtek car for them. They drove Falcons until Erebus bought out the Stone Brothers.

Prodrive bought Glenn Seaton Racing (Tickford) and turned it into FPV in 2002.

Sorry I got them mixed up.

It's sad, especially the way he was treated and it ended for him at Singapore but it's been coming a while now for Danny Ric. I really felt for him during his emotional post race interview, he loves racing in F1 and no one says a bad word about him (outside of recent on track form). He's still got alot of fans.

But lost his confidence and boldness in that POS 2021-2022 Mclaren and never recovered and couldn't beat his team mate at VCARB which could have put him in the frame for the main Red Bull seat.

He even admitted he had lost his mojo, didn't meet expectations and didn't feel he had what it takes to match the young guys anymore. Danny wasn't that great at adapting to different cars but still achieved some remarkable things outside of Red Bull.

He was immensely talented and exciting to watch in his prime at Red Bull, beat Seb, beat Max, dragged a middling Renault to some podiums and got Mclarens first race win in along time at Monza a few seasons back.

Has had a fantastic career, longer and better than most. Winning a WDC is just as much about timing as talent and determination.

The Red Bull wasn't very reliable when he left them and could see they were going to prioritize a generational talent like Max. Honda power plants had been a joke @ Mclaren but they sorted their **** out by the time they put them in the Red Bulls but DR was already gone.

You need to be in the right car at the right time and have the number 1 status over your team mate. He could prob get a seat at a back marker team and stay in the sport but can understand him not wanting fade out like that anymore and wanting an actual competitive car.

You might need a bit of luck along the way too which Danny didn't seem to come across a whole lot of. Although Lewis and Max crashed out at Monza I think Danny still could have won that one on merit. He performed that entire weekend.

Shows what a freak Alonso is still having his ability at 40+ years of age.

Just glad we still have Piastri to throw our support behind, that's a kid I see winning championships if that Mclaren remains a good car.

Would love to see Danny make a shock appearance at Bathurst this year. A bit too late though as all the teams are locked in. Still, he can drive the safety car for all I care, just get him to the event.

Endurance racing, Le Mans ect. would be a good avenue for him, many former F1 drivers find success in these categories. Danny has already said he won't go to Indycar or Nascar as those series scare him ha ha

He didn't want to go back to being the Red Bull reserve driver either which is fair enough. Think he goes back to his ambassador role possibly and can do other motorsport stuff alongside this.

Guess he takes the rest of the year off and re-accesses his future from there

We got the Bathurst 12 hour coming up in February. Surely one of the European factory teams gives him a call. Mark Webber might be able to sort something out for him with Porsche.

Very uneventful Bathurst today with Perth Lad Brodie and Todd starting on Pole then just under 6 hrs later taking the checkered flag. Happy to see my both Redbulls, 87 and 88 on the Podium also. 888 Wildcard almost pulling off a top 10.

SVG out of NASCAR Infinity Playoffs too. I think he still had a pretty awsome Rookie year, learnt enough to move into the Cup Series next year.

No safety car until lap 130 odd I believe, so not the best race for the spectator. But a fantastic drive by Brodie and Toddy regardless. Great effort by young Cooper Murray as well, the co-driver for Craig Lowndes, would of had a top 5 finish if it wasn’t for overtaking while the Safety Car lights were still on.

I think if you are needing a safety car to spice things up it probably doesn't say alot about the race itself

Race of Champions is happening in Sydney in March. They just announced Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher driving. I may have completely lost my ****.

Race of Champions sounds sick, get Mark Webber in there to race against Vettel :devilish:

Btw Aus GP in Melbourne for 2025 has sold out in 1 day! Really need to get myself to it some day

Man it's the best weekend. Tickets are a nightmare which is why I pay extra for the token to get the presale which also opens up doing grid walks and all sorts of stuff.

So much going on down there during it. It's essentially like a giant festival at the track and there's always something in the city going on related to it.
