Flanno's stubbornness and defiance suggests to me that he would not resign his position if we continue to flounder even if he is under even more immense pressure.
This is a scenario that although unlikely could potentially unfold in which I don't believe he would be entitled to a payout of his contract. If there were penalties for him not meeting our terms of contact (like any contract there are usually consequences for breaking it) perhaps the board could meet him half way and waive those penalties if he agreed to leave quietly.
Face it, the board will do what it has to get re-elected not necessarily the right thing but what would win them votes in the short term (bit like our liberal/labour governments) in a popularity contest.
The way I see it with Flanno they are screwed either way. The give him the punt and they are chastised for spending valuable club money on a big payout and losing credibility for extending his contract in the first place only to give him the boot.
If they leave Flanno in place and the performances don't turn around the board will lose credibility for sticking with their mates and not making the changes required for the betterment of the club, while bleeding crowd numbers, gate revenue and sponsorship appeal.
Flanno's resignation would be the cleanest way for all parties involved and pretty much everyone wins, maybe even Flanno who can go back to working on his playstation trophy collection on the couch
