How do you feel Bennett, Des and Toovey present to the media?
Also Ricky. Flanno needs to stay. His actual coaching Nrl record is not bad at all. There is no way he is like Marty McFly, so we need to let him get on with his job and so do the media. He will last 3 years and probably end up being one of our most successful coaches.

It is up to LG and co to smooth out the bumps.

I get the point of point of poor media management by the coach. I don't think that is enough to throw out him out the door during preseason after only just coming back from suspension. I don't even think that was on the agenda.

Cranky - Flanno just returned and we sign how many players? We have a great roster for next year due to flanno, he got us to the finals 2 years running with an average roster. I am not saying he is the next wayne bennet but he does have form and a good roster.

Coaches don't get sacked for bad media presentations they get fined.

If we lose games then lets revisit this thread but until then we are winning our preseason.

Yeah, pretty simply the coaches main job description is not to be media-savvy, it's to coach. Similarly, a Group CEO's main job description does not including "Sacking the coach within 2 days of commencing duties".

It's not rocket science.

i think this is what the fans need to focus on.....i would say without doubt this is the best preseason i have seen at the sharks considering the addition of Gorman and our new recruits....

can anyone else think of a year we had a better preseason that 2015?

I don't agree with Cranks but I get where he's coming from.

And virtually the whole forum was pretty damning of Flanny until about 20 days ago....

my opinion of flanno has not changed, but I don't agree with the fact that lyall Gorman should have come on board to sack him

I think the problem with Flanno is that he has always been of the opinion that he does this whole media-bizzo-thingy really well and will not take on board any feedback, advice or criticism.

However, then again, I suppose that's pretty much how he approaches everything else so not sure whether there is much hope in seeing any great development.

I suspect there will be a fair bit of bulls locking horns though as time rolls on. I suspect that Gorman and Flanno may have different ideas as to where the Club should be heading.

Are you willing to bet your house on that as well?

now I know some want to ride roughshod over him already, perhaps disappointed he didnt make ASADA go away with a wave of a wand or something, but from what I see he's very much doing his job already.
he's talking the right talk, mentioning turning down of sponsors if not a good fit, privatisation options, and discussing the club from a business side without being interfering on the squad side of things.
also, within a week we now get a daily update on sharks going-ons.
its nothing of note, but clearly shows his plan of getting the fan's interaction/support, and also reciprocating it from the club side, which is something that has been sorely missing for years now.

im actually quite excited, and get the feeling he may be exactly what we need....time will tell.

I think Lyall, Flanno, Gal and Wade will end up doing a press conference with an ask us anything kind of approach. The result of which could go either way.

I think it will only go one way and that will be if you want those questions answered you will have to go to the NRL and ASADA we are binded by them and cant answear.

IMO, coaches get sacked rather frequently and hastily for non performance (or sometimes even when they do perform), if flanno gets to the finals 2 out of the next 3 seasons, he will stay, if not, then its back to the NRL coaches revolving door. simples.
