Flanno's comments on Brailey and the hooker spot from the WCC post match press conference.

On Brailey ...
"I though he was outstanding. To come in to an environment like this: the full house, World Club Challenge, to make your debut in the middle of the field, that's a fair ask. I thought he did a really good job. He hasn't played NRL before. He's come out of the 20's system. I thought it was a really good debut for him. He's going to be a good player. To play against some of those test players in this environment was a great experience for him. That's one of the reasons I threw him there today - because I wanted him to have that experience. Gal said to him him after the game that this is as physical and as fast as an NRL game and he handled it pretty well".

On the vacant hooker spot ...
"It's a massive hole to fill. We were so reliant on Michael Ennis last year. He did a lot of stuff off the ball for us - all of his experience. Jayden will be in there but we don't expect him to do it from start to finish. He's only a twenty year old hooker; he needs some support around him. Nu Brown did a pretty good job when he was on there, and we've got Daniel Mortimer there as well who could do a role. We'll just let that role develop".

When asked if the club is still "trying to get Segyaro"...
"I'm not quite sure what's going to happen there. If he becomes available we'll think about it, but at this stage I'm not quite sure where that's at."

Note that I removed a few of Flanno's 'so's and 'you know's from the actual quote to make it read better.

I think I'd prefer a combo of Nu and Brailey who have been training with the spine all pre-season than Segeyaro coming in fresh. He's not good enough to do that and succeed.

Plus NU is like adding an extra half midway through the second half, he has a running, passing kicking game which will only help if we need points late in the game. similar to how Tyrone Roberts will be used, except way better than Tyrone.

According to Wade Graham in an interview Seggy has been training with us. Doesn't seem right but it's coming from the horses mouth.

Very happy with his debut. He was fantastic in defence. Might need to take on the line a little more but that will come.

Very impressive defensively and gave good service. He played more minutes than I expected and I was disappointed in Nu Brown. We need our reserves to lift the intensity.

Made about 40 tackles, only missed one tackle against Pangai but it wasn't a costly miss or anything, very good passing as well. He's the real deal so far.

I'd give Nu one more week to prove he has the balls to dart at the big forwards, Canberra have big slow fellas so that's a perfect test.

I'm happy to give Nu more of a run. Mortimer won't offer anything much anyway so stick with the young for now.

Top debut, playing in such a crucial position he did very well, we are gunna miss Ennis but you cant knock his effort nor performance.

Put on a great hit early in the game. Looked way more comfortable fitness wise too than in the wcc. I hope we dont get stuck into benching him just because we have a sub there, if he can motor let him play the 80, if he's tiring pull him off.

Was excellent. His service out of DH is A+. Particularly the width he generates.

To put him in direct comparisons.
Seen him play 2 games now at a higher level.

Passing game KILLS what Lichaa can do.

Very happy with this guy at 9 and would like us to persist and not go after Seggy.
Build for the future!

Happy to wear the bruises it might take for this kid to turn into a proper first grader. Looks the goods to me.
