I thought it would be a good time to share a few ideas for next years membership.

Start promoting before the end of this season
Hopefully, we should get a decent crowd for the cowboys game. With the potential for an even better season next year we'd be crazy not to capitalize while there are so many potential members at the game.

Recognition of long-term membership
For ticketed members of say 10 years or more have a 10% discount on membership or some exclusive item of merchandise. Make it a "10 Year Club"

Better quality members pack
This is one aspect I was disappointed with this year. It was okay for kids, but not adults. Personally, I think the minimum should be a decent quality cap, decent keyring and a fixture card. Most people wouldn't mind paying a little extra. Or better, make the Sharks net pack an optional extra on top of a ticket only membership.

Game Day Benefits
I don't think there are any at the moment. Something like:
Exclusive lounge/bar
Food/drink discounts
Priority queues

Reciprocal rights with other clubs
For teams we play twice, we get GA admission to their ground when we play, in return for their members getting GA admission to Toyota when they play here.

Better communication
Last summer I had a Sydney Thunder membership and appreciated the direct emails giving updates on members packs etc. Not everyone checks facebook and forums regularly.

Generally, I was happy with membership this year, but we need to keep coming up with new ideas to keep attracting members.

Hi Grozzy, i was at the platinum members photo shoot today and one thing that was said was that the members pack is going to be more about quality than quantity next season.

All your points are valid too, might be worth sending this post as an email to the club as all help would be appreciated.

Great ideas Grozzy, good thread too mate. It'd be fantastic to see everyone put their 2c in this one.

Very pleased to see that they're thinking of quality over quantity. Who uses the pencil cases etc anyway?

I think you can expect that the Membership department will see this thread. ;)

All good and valid points. I quite enjoy knowing that I will have had 12 home games included this year and not 11 due to one of them being sold off to another ground. I agree that the quality of the members pack, particularly the hats, could have been alot better. From 2008-2010 they were quite good, the 2011 optional extra was a bit of a nuisance and I didn't know about it, but the 2012 included cap was quite poor. It's a minor thing to harp on, but I love a good quality members cap, and I think it's worth the effort to make a good quality, included cost member's cap to help show support. I think the game day benefits would be a really nice idea, and reciprocal rights would be great for increasing the crowd attendance to Cronulla home games and the home games of the other clubs involved. I know alot of people, myself included who are reluctant to attend away games due to further cost and distance, and that would help to resolve that issue and improve away game support.

The shoot was gone, one of the players kept meowing ( I bet it was gibbsy), jardz talked about the membership and other things, in which is good to hear. It is all exciting times for us in 2013. (jerseys)

I say this every year, lol.... But a Season Ticket Holder's Bar Only Line, would be the goods! (hard to police tho, i'd imagine as people could just share their season ticket pass)

I noticed out at Penrith the Panthers have the Black Hole Bar Only, I liked that idea. Very clever. I'm sure the members of the Black Hole would appreciate it, I know personally our supporters would if the had say a CSSC Cage Members Only Bar line ;-)

As for Membership / Marketing, ideas are always a good input, but sometimes budgets get in the way of things. I have faith in the ones in charge of it all to do a great job again in 2013.

i'd like a membership package that someone who lives 700kms away can get that doesn't just feel like a $75 donation to the club

THIS!!!!! Compared to other clubs our membership is overpriced and underwhelming for interstate fans.

Will still always join but wish it had a bit more depth. Maybe have collector pins/badges or something that we can look back in years to come instead of stickers that don't even stick properly!

i think that interstate and country members should have an option to upgrade their seats, as if you are only able to make one or two
games for the year. most people would like good seats.

Unfortunately I have to agree with this.

The season isn't over and the only thing that didn't fall apart is the rape whistle!

Admittedly I have used the backpack every weekday since receiving it but it was on borrowed time two months ago and fell apart a few weeks after.

I'd prefer one quality item I can use (ie not a scarf or beanie!)

I agree with this, it would be good to be able to get a grandstand seat rather than G/A.

Just a couple of points:

- there already is a members only bar of sorts at the bottom of the ET Stand. The line always moves pretty quickly, even on Sat night the line was out the door, but way better then all the other lines that I saw.

- I don't like any sort of discount for memberships. The whole idea of membership imo is to give money to the club. So if you give say 1000 10 year members a 10%, well you do the maths.

Good post mate. I agree on the above point, the caps this year are pretty average at best. On the fixture card, kind of makes it hard to do this given the appalling way scheduling is currently handled by the NRL.

This years cap was nothing short of a joke I havent even worn it. I would prefer to get nothing than something that is poor quality. Atleast this way the club isn't paying money to have something go to waste.

True.

You know what would be good? A platinum interstate membership.

- Signed jersey
- One home game in a box seat

Stuff like that

...great idea - quality not quantity in the membership packages...

... they could even try to coordinate so that all the platinum interestate members came to the same game during the year and we all got to meet the players... tour the grounds anbd sheds...meet Damian Irvine .. get on the drink and watch the game together.... they could nearly dedicate a round to the interstate members or something like that!
