Not sure if it's been posted, but this is our team of the decade according to Zero Tackle:

Michael Gordon
Valentine Holmes
Matthew Wright
Jack Bird
Sosaia Feki
James Maloney
Chad Townsend
Andrew Fifita
Isaac de Gois
Sam Tagataese
Wade Graham
Luke Lewis
Paul Gallen

What an absolute shocker. No Ennis, no Barba, and Matty Wright at centre!

Just making sure this is not April 1.

Barba - X factor, ball playing, try scoring abilities
Bird - mongrel and aggression, tackle busts
Kimmorley - the “general” To steer us around
Treister - for the niggle (not as much as Ennis but had to step down due to salary cap restrictions).

Dont forget who they are playing for. We can lose any game any time!!
I think this was actually in our mission statement pre Gorman years

Very good apart from Lang.

yep should have been starting instead of that cat Stevens

100%. I’m not knocking Matty Johns, we had a good season with him but just imagine.....IMAGINE....... the magic of Campbell alongside the leadership and control of Noddy, and if that kept Campbell happy enough to stay and not go to Penrith, that could of been the combo for years. One of our clubs biggest what ifs.

Matty Johns was at the bottom of my list in the company of Dykes, Kimmorley and Preston but he was a big name and were playing catchup a bit by that point with our squad

The halves pairing we should have had under Chris Anderson. As a young kid I hated Kimmorley for Campbell being pushed out but the back end of his time with us was amazing

Kimmorley was a good signing and a superb player just tough fitting so many good players into the spine, dunno if presto would have hung around if we got him to play from the bench again or something. at that point he was a proper starter in the halves and possibly the best young half in the game, deserved to keep the role at a club, unfortunately not ours. no one was happy to see presto go. Kimmorley was supposed to bring us the success he had with Ando at melbourne, we got close but it didn't happen. a premiership or 2 would have justified the decision but yea history is a bitch sometimes...

Gardner was possibly my biggest disappointment. Had just about everything I wanted to see on the field in a Sharks Jersey

had everything? mate I loved the little bloke, excitement machine and all heart but I think his size was always gunna work against him, he got pole axed and ragged dolled around week in week out. that was a problem on the field in terms of being bit of a liability but also long term with injury risk. yea blokes like Barba made it work as a small FB but different class of player and barbs also had the ball playing and defensive ability to get him out of trouble. with more time to improve his skills and experience and bulk up a bit Gardner should have got better though, real shame what happened to him. will always love him for those memorable efforts in 2010

I just finished watching that game. Brilliant side we had back then. How we didn’t make the GF let alone win it I’ll never know.
cause Cronulla - we were the chokers before choking became cool

Chad for $1 is a bit rich

Barbs for three is a steal as is Bird for a buck

Greg Bird slayed at 5/8 in Origin

Jack Bird slayed the counter staff when he got 5/8 nuggets in his pack

Doesn't matter if you mean Jack or Greg, they're both crap 5/8's.

It's a Greg Bird. Rules of the game limit the choices, but he's a guy who brings a winning attitude and ability no matter where he is on the park. And c'mon, it's just more fun having him in a team than not

No. He didn’t. He had a very good coach who realised how how well they could play off the back of him. Objectively he is probably the worst 5/8 ever to play origin, but imo selecting him was one of the smartest selections ever.

Just finished watching that 1999 semi verse the Broncos. Such fun.

A smallish, mobile, hard as ****ing nails forward pack just bursting with energy all game. Speed all over the park. Triester... what a tackling machine. Just effort everywhere.

Tempted to go like a Gordon/Maloney/Chad/Ennis - two elite game winners on their day and two bloke who can get the job done most games, and sometimes play above expectation. Good old Chad continues to be useful as a cutprice halfback haha
But if you were looking to stitch the spine up long term no point taking Maloney.
Something like Gordon/Dykes/Bishop/Ennis would give you a good stretch as a competitive side.

I think Greg and Jack both have to make this team - Jack's elbow effort in the GF was right up there with playing through

How long until we do the 'unluckiest' Sharks side because Ben Ross' list of injuries is absurd
And Jack Bird can definitely make that team
