With all these former players coming out with their greatest ever side for their respective club team I thought this could be a good time filler.

I’ve only gone with players I’ve personally seen plenty of. There were some tough decisions in here that I’d happily change.

1 Peachey
2 Rogers
3 Ettingshausen
4 McKenna
5 Holmes
6 Maloney
7 Kimmorley
8 Stevens
9 Ennis
10 Fifita
11 Lewis
12 Graham
13 Gallen

14 Lang
15 Greg Bird
16 Campbell
17 Jeremy Smith

While there were other options I’d be happy with instead of McKenna our lack of quality centres is really shown. The amount of big minute forwards allowed me to carry Presto as a super sub which I love as he’s one of my favourite players of all time.

Steve Rogers!!!

Deano said he was only including players he’d seen. Probably too young to watch Sludge play.

Coach I’d have to go Flanno because he got us there. The Lang days are so fond in my memories though.

Yeah Steve is obviously a walk into the greatest as well as blokes like Miller being in there but I didn’t feel right to include some legends & potentially leave out blokes that deserved to be there.

Ok, fair call.
I think ET and sludge only ever played in one game together.
What about Sparkles McGaw then?

Glad jezza is there, massive influence on our team. That man was competitive with a capital C.

Again just a little too early for me. I almost included him for the rep games I’ve seen that my old man had recorded but it didn’t seem right, I can only remember watching one Sharks game with him involved.

His influence was out of this world, it felt so wrong to only have him on the bench.

Surely there are already a bunch of threads the same or similar as this

Anyways

although Barba was only with us a few season I reckon him over Peachey - I know that's controversial

I love Peachey, is one of my all time fav players and got me following the Sharks but we don't win the comp in 2016 without Barba - he had an incredible season. He was all round just so good in attack and defense
I think both players were more suited in style to their respective era's

I liked Jezzas aggression (when not breaking someones neck and getting penalised) and what he brought to our team in some very poor years with very poor squads but I couldn't have him in there over other worthwhile candidates

Y Agree with all of this. Peachey my fav of that era too( Even flew up for what was supposed to be him and Stevos last game) but yep Barba. Strange Cause i'd guess Peach thought more of as a True shark, notwithstanding the Sffs shift.

Have to disagree about Barba over Peachey, I’ve just watched three videos of his highlights and like I remember he was a deadset freak. Yes he didn’t get us to a grand final but you can’t compare Peachey’s 11 years to Barba’s 2. It’s Peachey for mine.

Who remembers his famous put downs just before the dead ball line?

Would Rogers have been one of those flipping-type finishers if he played in today’s game? Would he even be wing?

Tf he did not. Lets just count 97. It was a legit comp

I remember all the famous stuff Peachey did and yes he was a freak and a brilliant player I'm just saying put him into our 2016 team (at a reasonable playing age) and maybe we don't win that comp
Having said that put Barba in those 90's teams and we still don't win a comp. different era's different players

Peachey had some great seasons with us but any as dominant as Barba in 2016? Both players could embarrass an opposition of their day regardless and get the crowd on its feet.

Peachey didn't have the off field scandals Barba did. Peachey a better clubman and bloke for sure, greatest sharks players then yea prob peachey gets it over Ben but best sharks players maybe it's Barba by a hair even if it was just one season he really fired for us if he didn't get done for coke he would have given a couple more excellent follow up seasons

I didn’t do it on purpose. I just forgot about 97. Happy to count it. Adds to my argument actually.

I think 97 is worth forgetting about for a number of reasons

Would Rogers have been one of those flipping-type finishers if he played in today’s game? Would he even be wing?

prob would have demanded fullback money and had fans and media arguing about his best position for half a decade
