This isn't a popularity contest, oh wait it is
Get over it, it will never change. Channel 9 will always pick the teams who rate well
We rate poorly, tough luck

I think ratings are a bit of a side show to this to be honest I always watch Friday night games doesn't matter who plays a lot of people are the same they just like watching league and only really have Friday and Sunday if they don't have foxtel you will always get high ratings on Friday and Sunday unless something else is on that is worth watching especially when it rains or is very cold out.

I secretly sit on my lounge with all my broncos voodoo dolls and stick pins in them :p

So I guess I call BS on the ratings it more about the favorites but channel nine as they say own the game so it wont change it doesn't make it fair on other clubs due to sponsoring etc but the NRL doesn't care about that at all either.

How is Sharks vs Roosters in round 24 not a top 3 game for FTA? Monday night is a joke.

Interesting to see they have brought back the 3pm time slot on Saturdays for the final few rounds...

it is a top 3 game. 9 get the first to picks, monday night is the third pick

I always thought 9 got the first 3 picks... 9 always sell out one pick, automatic broncos or cowboys, so what is their second pick? Fri or Sun?

The lack of FTA games is annoying, particularly for sponsors exposure, so I grudgingly pay for Foxtel.

The funny thing is, unless all games are FTA, we're better off without it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, we seem to attract larger crowds, and increase our chances of a win, when our home games are on a Saturday night or Sunday afternoon.

I think the two Friday night games are 1 & 2, Monday is 3rd and Sunday is 4th.

I agree that we have to get over it. We don't have to like it though. It just shows that the whole NRL is not a level playing field. The media have been critical of how we haven't been able to attract sponsors to the club. How can we when the figures show that in this competitive market in Sydney, we don't get anywhere near a fair share of free to air games. Thank The Lord we own our stadium as it seems to be the only way for us to attract sponsorships.
For those of you who talk ratings, I believe footy fans watch any game on TV. I love watching the Sharks but often that experience is edge of your seat stuff for 2 hrs. I don't mind that, but sometimes it's enjoyable to watch two sides belt each other and you don't really care who wins. These games sometimes allow you to gain an insight on opposition teams and appreciate the talents of certain players. For Channel nine to play favourites each week, season in and out is downright unfair. I will have to get over it, but I don't like it. ( We just have to play more attractive football and it won't be an issue!)

The NRL might not be playing favourites with picking the same teams week in & week out. They are simply picking teams who they make the most money off, advertisements. The NRL is a business.

Broncos is a MUST choice for the NRL on Friday Night, it gets shown live to QLD viewers, smart decision. I mean how many QLD viewers would tune in to a Sharks vs Tigers game? No where near the amount of a Broncos, Cowboys or Titans.

It's just how it is. If I was running the NRL & looking a business decision, I too would put the Bulldogs, Souths, Roosters, Storm & so on before my beloved Sharks.

It all comes down to money money.

Yeah we seem to get the good crowds on a Sunday arvo 2pm when its not FTA. I wouldnt expect more than 13,000 tonight because you can watch it at home.

I understand FTA is better for club exposure.

But from a fan of many years, actually wanting to view my team interstate.
I hate Friday night games.

Up here, unless the game involves Brisbane, Cowboys or Gold coast, we get the second slot game, so it is not shown live. Therefore, as foxtel don't have the rights, it is not possible without a poor quality live stream for me to see the game live.

I say keep it to foxtel, so I at least get something for my money.
