Lol I love this forum. Sharkster is right. The old board cannot be blamed for any decisions that have been made as no one knows if they were wrong or right. Big election coming up.

You're right Garbs. I guess my point is, don't be ANYBODY'S puppet, Gow's or otherwise. It's the only negative I can come up with. As you'll note I found 2 very strong positives straight off the bat!

Fail on your part ********!

Read before you run your keyboard into overdrive!

I am saying, voting for an alternate ticket based upon the current boards decision SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. For the very same reason you are attacking me.

Oh and by the way, I may play the village idiot in here for fun, however I have plenty of experience at CEO and Board level in a number of industries. Care to throw more dirt?

Yeah... I do it for fun too. -shifty eyes-

Still undecided. Have been asked by many people to run. Need to work out what is best for my wife and family and what is best for OUR Club.

Non-plussed by the potential of all of these opportunist wood ducks who seem to have swooped in on the opportunity lately.

If you didn't raise your hand in the past when we were doing it really tough you don't have my support.

That's a crucial thing in my mind. The hard yards have been done and we should maintain some continuity with the current board to see things through.

I have loyalty to those who busted their balls and ovaries to get us into a position of security - not to these fair-weather sycophants who want to come in and get a cushy ride now that most of the hard work is already done.

Where were all these "saviours" when the Club actually NEEDED a saviour years ago.

Yes we've got some PR issues to resolve now but our financial position is now secure.

My vote goes to those who committed themselves to save the Club when we were down for the count.

Fitz - you are one of a very small handful of people who can provide continuity despite not having previously nominated for, or served on, the board.

My priority is to ensure that the legacy built by Irvine & Douglas is protected. You are a person who can contribute to that.

I don't know mate. I replied accepting such grovelling apology and suggested it was an honest case of mistaken identification of a troll post!

I think you will do well as a director as you have the knowledge and understandingof the situation, you have the club at heart and you don't have a motive beside keeping the club going.

What I have heard and seen in the media, just sounds like a "me too" thing or "this will look great on my resume", however you must have some qualifications to lead, to manage and to be able to take the heat, when the hard times are up on us.

I though about volunteering (done that a few times) and run as a director, however I am unable to and think there would be a lot better candidates, ie fitz. If I could, I would be there in a heart beat.

If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.

John Adams quote is something I believe in and works. I hope many other people do so.

Up up cronulla

And fitz - I do hope you run as you'll have my vote

"If a hotel concierge can become the chairman of the club, I'm confident I have more than adequate qualifications to be able to contribute positively as a board member," Raleigh said in a swipe at former chairman Damian Irvine.

Brisbane lawyer Chris Raleigh expected to nominate today.

Anyone know much about him?

Where has he been in the past? What is his history?

Seems happy to waltz in and ride on the coattails of that hotel concierge after most of the heavy lifting has been done. Very disrespectful comment in my eyes.

The Concierge tag makes me laugh. I used to be a Chief Concierge too. It's a bloody prestigious role in the high-end hotel world.

Fact is, Irvine's Concierge career ran from 1992 until about 1997. Fifteen friggin' years ago. But, it was at one of Sydney's most elite hotels. The Park Hyatt gig was a top-up to his Skin Deep business activity only, and it was only necessary because the Sharks role took up most of his daylight hours AND it didn't pay. Print that, journo pricks.

This Brisbane-based Lawyer can GAGF.

I think if you have not been around for the last 5 years while times are tough you should not try to come in on the back of insulting someone who has been.

By all means if you think you can help come on down state your case, in fact there are lot of people who seem to want to offer advice behind the safety of a quote in a paper but dont seem to want to get their hands dirty.

As the saying goes put up or shut up.

Although we havent seen eye to eye in the past fitz. You would have my vote. And that last line you wrote is part of the reason why. You should seriously consider it.

I know nothing about any of these randoms.

In saying that, I'll judge any candidate by their qualifications and attitude, not just whether they wanted to be a part of the place over those tough years. If there's an outstanding candidate, I'm not about to write them off due to a previous lack of involvement.

I've heard rumours about one nomination. Can't confirm anything though.

Not sure it's a nomination that you'd be excited about though Shark.

What will have happen now is that General Manager of the Leagues Club, Jeff Morris will go through all the nominations to establish the eligibility of those nominated to stand for the Board.

Depending on the number of nominations, that could take a bit of time.

It is not uncommon for people to nominate themselves without actually being eligible to be a Director because of lack of appropriate Membership to the Football Club and/or the Leagues Club.

Each candidate will have the opportunity to submit, within 7 days after the closing date of nominations, a photograph and resume not exceeding 300 words stating his or her qualifications and their reasons for standing election to the Board. Accordingly for candidates who are intending to do this, the documents must be submitted by 5.00pm on 25 March 2013. A booklet containing this information shall be forwarded to all members prior to the commencement of voting.

That booklet should be available via www.sharkies.com.au before 1st April 2013.

If a ballot is necessary (which I believe it will) it will be conducted at the Club’s premises at: 461 Captain Cook Drive, Cronulla NSW from Tuesday 16th April 2013 – Sunday 21st April 2013.

I am aware that not all current Directors have nominated to run for re-election.

I have declined to run this time around.
