He might be including trials , I think it was 217 FG games

Never the less he's a very good man and will in all likelihood be getting a tick from me

Still damn impressive.

Again, if the main criteria applying to Docko and Sorensen was being the 'Footy Head' then you'd have a hard time splitting them.

When other factors are considered, you'd have to run with Docko in my book. On a larger board of 10 or 12 I'd have two footy heads. On this occasion, Dane misses out but only just.

I'll be going down to vote tomorrow or Saturday.

I don't claim to know everything about every candidate, but I trust DI and his guys. It's hard to not vote for Dane Sorensen though, but gotta do what's in the best interest of the club. Were we not so rooted, maybe I could let a bit more sentiment seep in.

Getting back to the whole Holland debacle - Just so that people understand what is going on here

Some time back, The Club engaged a property consultant to investigate the profitability of the then DA on the lands that we now know as the Sharkies Leagues Club carpark

Although, approaching a huge number of potential developers, NOT ONE considered that it was an economically viable concern despite all the "Golden Fleece" comparisons that former administrations had given it.

The Board then decide to investigate alternative means to realise the value of the Club's land holdings in the light of the strangling debt incurred by those former administrations.

An expressions of interest process was undertaken to establish best financial use of the land assets and the Board decided that the proposal put forth by Bluestone, Capital Corporation and Parkview (The Consortium) was the way to go.

An initial (toe in the water) consultation took place with key stakeholders and the concept was accepted.

At this point in time Sharks Director, Greg Holland decided to go outside of the propriety of his role as a Board Member and pitch and spruik his company, Statecraft, for the contract to do the publicity for the project for the Consortium's proposal.

This was even before the acceptance of the Consortium had been agreed to by the rightful owners of the lands in question - The Sharkies Leagues Club Membership.

Ask yourself, how could any other tenderer compete with someone who has the power to accept or decline a proposal in favour of their own?

In my opinion, this is absolutely reprehensible behaviour.

Is this the sort of thing you want to see from our Club's director?

After the whole saga with Zappia I don't want anyone within a mile of the board who isn't squeaky clean.

Downy also will not be getting my vote for similar reasons. After I read his name and background I made a few calls to some of my acquaintances who are involved with state politics - I got the impression that he's a me-first guy who'll gladly sell the club down the river if it's to his benefit (like his mate Greg Holland) and he's not the sharpest guy around.

There is something I don't get.

I basically stumbled across this forum one day and not being on any other social media or internet sites, I joined up. I joined because of my love for the Cronulla Sharks and the fact that I was sick of hearing and reading about all the **** going on about the club through the papers and first hand from others that have/had dealings with the club and the league. During this time Damien Irvine was in the papers and on everyone's lips when there were stories about the sharks. Basically he was getting bagged left right and centre.

Now I don't know DI and I most possibly never will. However, I have the utmost respect for him, cause now, that I have educated myself, I refuse to listen and be lead by others.

See, what I don't get is this, people in here have posted numerous times that in DI they trust etc etc, but yet they are questioning his ticket. What is that ? You are either with him or your not. If you are with him then give him your full support and get with his preferences.

Democratic right, what a load of BS. This is about the sharks and this is about survival. Irvine is at the helm, he deserves HIS team. Deliver it for him.

Good call - You don't get a builder in and then tell them what nails to use or how to use a spirit level.

If we're talking about "Things we don't get"

I don't get how fanciful things like Bird, Carney and Giteau can attract so much attention, discussion and posting whilst very real and immediate things that will dictate whether we actually have a Club or not like Board Elections and The Sharks Development go largely ignored.

Rep for you Fitzy2513. Almost like you read my mind from the first word you printed till the last. Distance precludes me from getting down to the club to vote but I'm hoping -and counting on - that those who do have that power take that responsibility very seriously.

I went down to cast my vote tonight.

Stood out in the rain with the amazing and resilient trisharkette to hand out how to vote cards. Kudos kiddo!

I had a good chat with Dane Sorensen too - a lovely bloke and his heart is definitely in the right place. I can't help but think that it would be great if we can get these ex-players more involved in the Club. Maybe not at Board level where all the high level financial, legal and corporate governance stuff is involved but to act in a mentoring and guiding role for the football Club side of things. That is where they are really needed.

I also had a brief catch up with snowman, The Shire (big thanks!) and Deep Blue Jaws... sorry guys that I couldn't hang around - duty was calling.

Us out in the rain folk (we really need to look at revising the Club's constitution) witnessed a car accident on the roundabout and along with the other giver-outers from all of the HTV tickets, went to the aid of those involved. Could have been VERY ugly but luckily no-one was hurt.

I do have to say though that I was grossly disappointed with Peter Gow's behaviour towards the election officials that I witnessed whilst I was voting.

I admire Peter's business nous but it was really out of line, inappropriate and undignified to try throw his weight around to the people who were there to do their job independently and objectively.

Anyway, it wasn't too much of a drama and I think the election officials handled themselves professionally and calmly under the circumstances.

I wasn't able to go last night - my dad got home real late and he was using my car. But I'll be heading down to vote today.

One thing I don't understand is Peter Gow's attitude. Does he have a quarrel with the current board that I'm not aware of? Cause surely he realizes now is not the time to be playing power games.

Voted today and took my wife down to vote as well. Even sent out a few text message to mates to get them down to vote as well. If you know of people who are members who have not voted, and can, get them there. We need numbers and need them to support the board DI needs. This is not the time to second guess DI we need to support him. Lets get behind him support the bloke who is doing all he can to save our great club.

I also like the idea of getting ex players involved with the team as well.
