Official Cronulla Sharks Board + Management

I think it’s a bit tough when they are trying to keep some of it in-house to members/supporters, and not have a permanent record of it. Just trying to get that balance of being candid vs cautious.

The main thing I’d like to see at this point is plans for what the leagues club will look like when they start on it. And a summary of the planned costs and where all the money will go. And who the builders will be who are getting all that money.

I think we know enough about the history of it, and the negotiations deadlock. Unfortunately I think that will dominate the meeting along with stadium/gameday/teamlist/other Wishlist items that we have no money for. Though a plan for some ongoing small stadium improvements would be good.

Plus there will probably be one re-signing announcement. I’m guessing either Fitz or WK
Either one would please a few around here at the moment. Can’t wait! You might need to hire another moderator or 2 mate.

I can’t see any other info about this. Probably from the Tele today I imagine

Gal now boardroom brawler

The Sharks’ first and only premiership-winning skipper, Paul Gallen, is joining the Cronulla board. But he needed some convincing.
More comfortable in a dressing room or boxing ring, it’s now boardroom brawling for Gallen.

“It’s something I never thought I’d be involved in,” he said. “I hung up and laughed at [chairman] Steven Mace when it first came up. He called a few days later after I’d thought about it. I thought it’s a good opportunity for my personal development and to get out of my comfort zone.
“I’m always about giving things a go. I get to do that and try to help the club I’ve been at now for more than 25 years.”

Not sure how Gal being on the board is going to solve our finals problems
Yeh that's a stupid media headline grabber.

Gal is often at the club helping the team. Being on the board has nothing to do with finals performances.

This is a question that I think can be answered in this forum, as there are the most knowledgeable fans and members present.

Since I am in USA and citizen of USA, would I be granted voting rights if I was a paying international member for over 3 years?

Also if I do have voting rights, would I be able to execute the vote:
a. By mail
b. By finding another member to cast my vote by proxy
c. Having to be present at the AGM

I would love to be a member, and have the voting rights in due time. All sports clubs over here don’t offer fans any tangible say or vote in club matters.
The membership model that the Sharks have makes being a fan more rewarding experience than clubs owned by private ownership. It’s a matter of principle really.

I have dove into all available documents online and the part that isn’t clear is international membership and voting privileges. Any help would be appreciated. Up up Sharks 🦈

No, but he might contribute some of his millions to fix the leagues club and ground facilities

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪😜
The club has to find a way for Gal to be a part of the club in any way. The face of the club for his generation. I would imagine the rest of the board to respect his thoughts and he can help drive a vision for the future of the club while rooted in its past. Clubs need identity and he helps form that in my opinion. As ambassador or board member.

Yes, Paul Gallen was appointed to the Cronulla Sharks' board of directors in late August 2025, taking on the role of an appointed director to contribute to the club's future, focusing on his strengths in football and media. Gallen, who skippered the team's 2016 premiership win, will be actively involved in shaping the club's direction alongside the existing expert board,

It’s great to hear someone who appreciates the fact we are member owned and do have a vote! Not many do :)

Unfortunately, the quick answer is that I think you'd struggle to vote from the US.

The system is very complex, due to the history. There are two types of boards/elections (leagues club and football club), and three types of membership. Below is my understanding, but I can't guarantee everything is correct.

Membership types:
  • 1) The annual football ticketed/non-ticketed memberships (season passes) which go on sale soon in October.
    • These don't give you any voting rights by themselves.
  • 2) Leagues Club membership (CRONULLA-SUTHERLAND LEAGUES CLUB LIMITED)
    • This is when you pay like $10 a year to join the physical leagues club at Kareela or (one day again), Woolooware. Basically the "social club"
    • I believe you have to be a leagues club member for three years to vote in leagues club elections and AGMs
  • 3) Football Club membership ("CRONULLA-SUTHERLAND DISTRICT RUGBY LEAGUE FOOTBALL CLUB")
    • When you buy your memberships in October, you can choose the "Voting Rights" add-on. This gives you the right to vote in the "football club" elections and AGMs
    • I believe, similar to above, you need to be a "Voting Rights" member (football club member) for three years to vote in the "football club" elections and AGMs.
I think only the club's lawyers know exactly how it all works, but in practice, the Leagues Club and the Football Club boards are basically the same:
  • You vote for the directors at the same time (maybe on two separate sheets of paper), and in practice, the directors of each are generally the same. There hasn't been an election for ages
  • When you have an AGM, the main Leagues Club AGM is held first and generally goes for around 1-2 hours. The Football Club meeting is held after and is generally wrapped up within half an hour (it mostly covers similar ground). Often it involves confirming similar motions (e.g. life memberships of both clubs). Only football club members (a much smaller subset) can vote in this
  • Theoretically I assume the two clubs/boards could go different directions. One reason why it is good to have dedicated Sharks supporters keep up the football club voting rights. Having said that, there’s never been sign of a split

In terms of voting methods, I believe:
  • For the Leagues Club
    • Proxy voting is not allowed under government legislation (Registered Clubs Act NSW). This is mainly intended to prevent club take-over
    • Recent changes to this legislation do allow electronic voting over Zoom etc (you have to be present in the meeting). But my understanding is that we as a club don't currently support this. I have not seen any evidence of members being online/polled on Zoom, at least since Covid ended. The club would be the best to confirm that though.
  • For the Football Club:
    • It looks like proxy voting may be allowed, based on the AGM notices. But some notices from different years are conflicting. I am not certain if the Football Club is considered a Registered Club.
    • Again I haven't seen any evidence that we support voting over Zoom etc.

I've attached sample AGM notices from this year which give a little more detail.

You can also find the last publicly available Leagues Club Constitution PDF here:
There have however been multiple changes since then, most of them fairly procedural.

I don't think there has ever been a publicly available Football Club Constitution.

But yes the club is the ultimate source of information here. Possibly the Leagues Club might be better to contact: https://sharksatkareela.com.au/contact-us/

Unfortunately, the quick answer is that I don't think you can vote by proxy. I believe that after Covid finished, you have to be physically present to vote at the elections (before the AGM), or to vote on motions during the AGM. I believe this is part of government legislation (Registered Clubs Act). Generally this is designed to stop clubs being taken over.

I wonder what the rationale is for needing to be present to vote in person. Wonder if that's the same for all clubs.

Yeah I just edited that part actually, I realised I was a bit wrong.

I think the Registered Clubs Act does allow it, but I have not seen the club offer it since Covid at least... possibly just due to lack of interest though.

And when I look again at the AGM notices, it looks like proxy voting is disallowed in the leagues club meeting (due to being a registered club), but may be allowed in the Football Club meeting.

Thank you and I did.

International membership package does not include voting rights and any voting I would be able to cast would have to be in person at the AGM (after purchasing regular membership).

Oh well, worth a try 😀.
