That's the beauty of elections though, you can choose which one you want.

I'm not looking for an overthrow of the board or anything like that. The good thing about triennial elections is that any group trying to take over the board would have to do it in two subsequent years, there's less chance of an ambush. And definitely not ungrateful for the work they do (e.g. I know I'm not anywhere near as qualified!).

I just think we have had strong candidates who've contested elections in the past, and we should be looking for all the best people possible. Our confusing football club membership rules make it very difficult though.
That sort of competition seemed to work for Kennedy, makes sense!

I didn’t get to the last AGM, but from memory we were still also going to keep a separate smaller investment fund, even while borrowing for the fit-out. The basic idea being to take bank finance while it’s available, given it’s stable and relatively cheap (e.g. compared to a pizza shop loan).

So we would have Kareela, Cronulla St, the Woolooware leagues club, stadium, and this investment fund as assets still

Really not sure why owning the stadium is a good thing unless we sell it.

Good point. But we've had naming deals in the past, and I'm sure the clubs counting on that income source in the future.
Now of course I may be totally wrong, but I suspect the club finally what's best for its future financial security.
We need that income stream back.
Hopefully we have something being negotiated at the moment

Maybe “Quest“?

At the time of the recent Hall of Fame announcements the following appeared on the Sharks website -

"Going forward, eligibility for the Hall of Fame requires a player to first hold Life Membership. Additionally, no player will be elevated to Immortal status unless they have previously been inducted as both a Life Member and a Hall of Fame inductee."

It is now obvious why the words Going forward were used .

Notice of Meeting for the Football Club AGM on 26 March 2025 has today been issued & includes the following proposed resolutions -

RESOLUTION 3: ORDINARY RESOLUTION To consider, and if thought fit, to pass the following resolution to elect Mr Mathew Rogers (Membership Number 30047871 as a Life Member – ExPlayer of the Club: “That Mr Mathew Rogers (Member Number 30047871) is elected to Life Member – Ex-Player membership of the Club.”

RESOLUTION 4: ORDINARY RESOLUTION To consider, and if thought fit, to pass the following resolution to elect
Mr Jason Stevens (Membership Number 710 as a Life Member – Ex-Player of the Club: “That Mr Jason Stevens (Member Number 710) is elected to Life Member – Ex-Player membership of the Club.”

RESOLUTION 5: ORDINARY RESOLUTION To consider, and if thought fit, to pass the following resolution to elect Mr Thomas Bishop (Membership Number 30003489 as a Life Member – ExPlayer of the Club: “That Mr Thomas Bishop (Member Number 30003489) is elected to Life Member – Ex-Player membership of the Club.” 1.

RESOLUTION 6: ORDINARY RESOLUTION To consider, and if thought fit, to pass the following resolution to elect Mr Brett Kimmorley (Membership Number 652 as a Life Member – Ex-Player of the Club: “That Mr Brett Kimmorley (Member Number 652) is elected to Life Member – Ex-Player membership of the Club.”

That’s interesting. It might take some of the surprise out of any future events.

Also interesting that Noddy and Stevens have such low member numbers and Bishop and Rogers are so high

FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE
The Group financial performance, which is covered in
detail in the audited report to follow, clearly indicates the
strength of our brand, the skillset and commitment of our
board and management, the dedication of our staff and
the support of our sponsors, corporate partners, Members
and fans.

All of the aforementioned combined to deliver
another pleasing and positive result, the group reporting a
profit before tax of $2,468,884, representing an increase
in profit from the previous financial year.

In continuing to provide a financially viable second
licensed facility, Sharks at Kareela again reported a
profit, this year of $801,994, another excellent outcome.

In relation to the Cronulla Leagues Club at Woolooware,
through the investment of our funds under management
through Metric Investments, and despite not being open
for trade, a profit of $541,260 was reported, with that
figure including the incurred costs associated with the
League Club redevelopment.

The Football Club returned a $1,125,630 profit; when
compared to a loss in excess of $500,000 the year prior
, it
was an outstanding result, due in part to strong revenues
in sponsorship and hospitality, merchandise, membership
and ticketing.
The financial result for both the Group and the Football
Club outperformed budget expectations.

The surplus before tax of the Group for the year ended 31 October 2024 was $2,468,884 (2023: $1,524,336). The net
surplus after tax of the Group for the year ended 31 October 2024 was $2,468,903 (2023: $1,013,909)

LICENSED CLUB – SHARKS LEAGUES CLUB

It’s with extreme disappointment that we continue to
wait for our Leagues Club lot to be handed back by the
developer so we can commence our long-overdue fit-out.
Frustratingly, there was again little progress made on
the site in 2024. However, we are optimistic that major
milestones are imminent, allowing us to finally chart a clear
path to a Club opening date.
The process has been drawn out given the complexity of
the site and our efforts to ensure the Club is protected
from a legal point of view. Rest assured, we continue to
pursue all available options to get our Leagues Club lot
returned so we can commence our own fit-out however
in doing so will always protect our Club on behalf of
Members.
We sincerely appreciate the patience and loyalty of our
Members throughout what’s been a challenging period.
We anticipate that we will soon be able to deliver exciting
news and move forward to a bright future.

LICENSED CLUB – SHARKS AT KAREELA
Again, as indicated above, Sharks at Kareela continued to
more than meet our expectations, both financially and as
the second home in the Sutherland Shire for our Members.
Some of the projects undertaken during the period
covered in this Annual Report included the completion of
the locker room refurbishment, as well as the resurfacing
and upgrades to the car park area, while we continue
to look at ways to make Sharks at Kareela even more
comfortable and welcoming.

Did we ever clarify if it was us who sold a secondary property to NRL?
If so presumably that former bank (I think it was) shop front?
