I think everyone is forgetting that Morris wasn't a recruited coach. He was basically our fallback option when Flanno screwed the pooch again, and not what we had in mind for succession planning...

He was never going to be a 100% board fave, no matter what.

I doubt Morris is a bad bloke or stirrer in private, I think what you see is what you get with him and having met him he seems a genuine warm hearted guy who loves the club and it's players. I don't think he takes for granted remaining involved in the club

Flanno is a good coach no doubt but my biggest fear after going through all the trouble and backlash to bring him back is that he does not replicate his prior success and then a few years down the track we are looking for a new coach and Morris has already started to establish himself at another club or just cracked the ****s with the whole thing

a part of me feels like Morris deserves a bit of leeway and that he could really deliver for this squad and club a few years down the track despite the current drawbacks he may present - he at least deserves support throughout 2021, the whole season to see what he's got. if we fail then at least we know but if we do well maybe he should be considered for an extension. this squad has shown to have many problems but frankly what JMO has achieved with them under the circumstances is quite remarkable. And for ****ing once in our life we don't have off field or pre-season drams with this club beyond the crap hack journos exaggerate to try to manufacture drama and clicks but really the team are well behaved and the media seem to get along with JMO

all of these debates won't be completed until bellamy gives us an answer

Seriously with the way the last 2 years have gone for us (sacked coach, retiring veterans, drug ban for a promising junior, playing under the cap, playing home games away, covid), getting to the finals in his first 2 years should be considered pretty solid by the board
My meds must be working better. You make a lot of sense.

I’m guessing the ‘another way’ faction is the group that wants Craig Fitzgibbon yeah?

I don’t get the point of going after another rookie coach.

We’ve just invested a couple of years in the development of a rookie coach and he has done ok. Why start again? That’s not to say Fitzgibbon or whoever wouldn’t be good, but we’ve invested quite a bit in the development of Morris and he’s done reasonably well given the circumstances.

Anyone with minimal experience just seems like an unnecessary punt at this stage.

And to add to that- anyone but Bellamy and a couple of others don’t seem like a real upgrade either. I’ll also be pissed if they go with some kind of Mid-table journeyman coach, similar to what St George just did.

Sir Alex Ferguson did OK at Man U eventually although his first few seasons were poor and he just avoided the sack on few occasions. Give Bomber a chance.

Three different factions with three different agendas is not uncommon on a board. We have the God Squad who would be pro Flanagan, we have the Morris supporters who hopefully only want what's in the best interests of the Club, and a third group who probably have NFI about anything.

I guess those of us who follow the Morris group philosophy can only hope than common sense prevails.

I agree, I feel like the least sensible group is the third party. I don’t especially want Flanno but he makes way more sense than Green/Fitzgibbon or some other rando untested or reject option.

IMHO.......
We need to move on from Flanno now.
He gave us our 1st premiership and I’m truly grateful for that but he has also been involved with some of our bad times.

“Going another way” just doesn’t make sense (unless it was someone of Robinson, Bellamy quality).
Green did okay for the Cowboys but I don’t think he is the answer for us.
A rookie coach will just set us back and the rookie we have already has 2 yrs experience now and has a good raptor with our up and coming players.

Bomber hasn’t done much wrong over the past 2 years with what he had to work with a d some of the inherited issues he had to manage.
2 x week 1 finals games isn’t bad considering the circumstances (some would say overachieved) so I’d still be inclined to back him and give him an extension.

It's the NFI faction that scares me

I mean someone like Green MIGHT work out but could just as easily be a **** show. and going for another rookie like Cirlrado or Fitz makes little sense and just keeping JMO would prob be the more sensible option

My meds must be working better. You make a lot of sense.

you need to inject the vaccine mate, not drink it from a stout glass

The fact you are agreeing with me must mean my meds arent working and im talking garbage

BWB is delirious send him to the infirmary

Totally agree. People talk about Fitzgibbon like he’s the messiah, well they said the same thing about Barrett. Morris has done better than most rookie coaches of the recent past.

My guess is if Bellamy comes on board he’ll stick with Morris.

and Morris didn't have the benefit of being the direct understudy of his current/ previous first grade coach (i.e. wasn't flannos assistant) so he was fast tracked a step in his promotion to FG coach with Dymock not wanting it and leaving altogether
