didn't our board not just get rid of a bloke they thought had too much control and was spending too much money (Flanno)... thinking in a traditional Cronulla sense for a sec; Gus would embrace too much individual authority, ask too many questions, upset the apple cart and challenge the status quo too much at Sharks HQ for them to willfully endorse it.

but Gus could probably cover up **** and spread misinformation like a champ though so that would be broadly appealing while he could step in and 'coach from the stands' if JMO isn't getting it done.
he would bring back Flanno in order to lock up his son Kyle on a long term Cronulla contract even if he doesn't rate the father

The club wouldn't know what to do with the newfound positive media and sponsorship enquirers having to field 2 calls at once with call waiting long disconnected!
love or hate him gould is influential

yea we have new board members now but are they looking for rejuvenation or continuation... shall see...

Gus would have been handy during the Salary Cap Saga actually - could have explained the missing payments as vanishing into the void of the Shark Park Bermuda Triangle.
NRL punishment? no no no no no no no no, why did they do that to us Rabs

There’s pros and cons with Gus.
He’s said some dumb **** but (mostly) has a good brain for NRL and a good/big reputation. He could do some good things for us.

BUT
I think he won’t want to take his fingers out of the footy pie when it comes to day to day involvement and running the team is not the CEOs job and too likely to cause us problems.

One thing he will do is....give the club some clout.

We do need a Nick Politis type of figure we've never really had one, if this is the type of role we are wanting him for then I am for it.

He’s declined the offer apparently.

in january he did

Gus wouldnt come in as a CEO either, director of football operations, much like what he is doing now at Penrith

give him that role, get in a well known CEO and we have the makings of a great relationship

im all aborad the gus train

We need a money guy as the CEO at this stage, not a footy guy- so that's good.

I'm not sure how I feel about him really. Sometimes I like him, sometimes I hate him.

I'm not really sure what he has done though. They are financially strong, not sure if that's down to him or not. I know they have a very strong property/club portfolio. Not sure if he had anything to do with that. I'd think not too much?

If he has some corporate pull for sponsorship than that is at least helpful.

He's pretty good in the media. He's a bit Trump like. Sometimes you think he's telling a bit of a porky but he can get people to buy in to whatever he's selling.

As for the Footy side of things- I'd say we've done much better over the last few years than Penrith. But of course our "brain" isn't available any more so...

I'd say very little, they've had that for at least 20 years.

Didn't I read somewhere that a certain billionaire, with strong links to the roosters, stepped in to dig the panthers out of financial difficulty?

that was early doors and why gus was brought in to the club

who else in this league would have a contact like james fkn packer that could come in and do you a favour

gus has balanced their books handsomely since he has been there, and sparing their car park the build, would have had an $8 million profit in 2017

the guy has been around long enough to enough about running a football club

get him in

Yeah I'm on the Gus bandwagon. Might not like the guy but you can't deny his knowledge of the game and he's got the Panthers in a good position.

Maybe questions on his recruitment but who knows how much he was involved with that ?

He might have issues with the limited budget he'd have to work with, plus he wouldn't get as much per year as he probably gets at the Panthers.

AGREE , but allow the coach to seek team advice ONLY when the coach wants advice .
eg Morris is the boss of the team . There has to be separation .
Gould is wise and can provide sage counsel . BUT only when coach requires/desires it .
Let Gus focus looking after the clubs best interests in all other matters .
