I get it.
In my heart I'm a Sharks fan before a Fifita fan though so I'd rather look past the fact Fifi was an incredible Sharks player and earned that contract to the fact he is a shadow of himself and not worth that contract now.
Bar a miracle return to form the best thing for the Sharks is not necessarily the best thing for Fifita and unfortunately I prefer results for team over next two years to him getting so much more of our cap than he is able to contribute anymore.

If he just struggles along on the big money this year and next year still worth it for the premiership though.

I actually think we'll see a second coming. And I'm not talking about when Wizard sees Macca run out for us - that Fif's will have a really good year. He still has a heart-full of passion and ability and if he's back on the rails fitness wise, there's no reason why he wouldn't do well this year.

There's his ****ed knees that he says are bad enough he could be medically retired.

More than happy for the big fella to prove me wrong, hope he does. And I don't expect him to be back to near his best even, but we need more out of him more consistently that what he has been able to give us recently.
I don't wanna see him not being picked in the side as either a fan of him or someone who hates to see out cap money wasted.

I don’t really understand the signing. Perhaps someone can fill me in. The article says signed as a lock?

Isn’t he a bit small for a lock?

I’m assuming Brailey is starting at 9 and McInnes will be used as a rolling rotation for Brailey and Rudolf.

I think 4 years and the fact we have had a good record recently making finals were the big clinchers. If we paid 600k or less I can't believe he wasn't able to attract 7-800 from the tigs or dogs as a 9.

Incredible coup for us, especially when it comes to experience in the pack. Also shows we are recruiting in the right direction to succeed in the faster game.

Played almost half last season at lock, regularly playing 80 minutes. Don't think he will be a 'rotational' player.
Probably see some games he moves into hooker, Brailey has a break and another forward (like Rudy) goes to lock for a bit, or even Tracey goes to lock off the bench (McInnes/Tracey probably more of a job share than either being set in specific role).

Comments out of Dragons re: him moving to lock last season was he helps direct their forwards around really well from lock so that will be good fit for BHU/Rudy/Talakai and other younger guys.

Makes a tonne of high quality tackles regardless of position, can make 100-200m from lock. But still, think of him more as a lock fixing our sides horrendous defence and bringing energy and effort than as a 3rd prop.
Faster game will move most teams towards Murray, Radley, McInnes unless they have a beast like JT.

Let’s just hope we can keep him fresh. I wouldn’t want 4 years of him making 40+ tackles and 200m a game. I’m actually hoping he head highs someone early rounds and cops a season ban for his last year with the dragons

What also shouldn’t be lost on us is that this is one of the biggest middle fingers to the ****wits in red and white that our club has managed to pull off in years. We’ve taken their captain and arguably their best and most popular player away from them and their arrogant, cocky fanbase is in meltdown. **** those arrogant pieces of ****.

I'm reading the Dragons forum, they are absolutely filthy with Cam & the Dragons staff now it's classic reading it. Either way onto Cam, what a coup he will be expecially if he's stated he prefers to play lock & he's signed on as our main lock. I'd presume we would have stated to Brailey about this but he is still our 1st choice hooker for the future.

With Flanno as Dragons assistant, any chance there is deal agreed for Flanno to return from 2022 onwards at least as assistant or mentor etc. to Bomber?

I don’t think Flanno works for the Dragons anymore.

Ok I thought he still was. Would be good if we ever got him back though, I'd welcome him back with open arms anytime despite what happened. Was a top coach & won us our first premiership.

Cameron McInnes did state he'd prefer the lock position right or am I confused?

I haven't seen him say that.
My expectation was he prefers hooker but I don't have a lot to back that up, just it's typically been his primary role and can being spine can be a bit more exciting.
But all reports coming out clearly state he will be our 13, including apparently him quoted saying (and I'm paraphrasing) he expects to be our 13 as that is his best spot in our team

I knew you'd be a fan of this signing.

Yep.

Also, it keeps the forwards on their toes. 2 workhorses in McInnes and Tolman mixed with forwards like Graham Talakai and Rudolph is good. Leaves no room for players like Nikora and Williams etc to hide

You rate the signing ?

What I find interesting is apparently he doesn't like Hook.

So with that in mind, it's odd he'd sign with us for 4 years without knowing who our coach will be.

I wonder if he's privy to what we have in mind for a coach in 2022?

or just that any coach is better for him than hook right now

I can’t even begin to express how massive a signing this is

you just began expressing how massive a signing this is...

Some fun takes online regarding McInnes being released. Apparently a smart move by Dragons as new rule suits a more dynamic running 9.
Seems mostly unrelated, perhaps would be better posted in the Rumour Mill for player movements...

dynamic doesn't mean good and if they are going for Andrew McC he is average all round - nothing that exciting

A dragons ITK is saying we will swap billy for cam by round 2

but can Cam chip over the top in the 80th minute and concrete your driveway?

https://www.thekennel.net.au/forum/...-like-well-end-up-with-blayke-brailey.118685/

It's just some fans musing that Brailey will leave because McInnes is a 9 and Brailey is close with Kyle Flanagan

fmd that is a stretch on both fronts - everyone just wants to have no threat to their position and play with their best mates. dogs are dreaming

doesn't matter if he is small, mobility and heart he has

Our 'big' locks havn't stood out and no one has nailed down the 13

playing him from the bench bit of a waste, he has a big motor. like Tolman you give them as many minutes as you can. they arn't impact players, they are meant to be out there most of the game if not all of it keeping things tight

will brailey be played 80 mins by coach in 2021 though - maybe . he looks ready

With Moylan and Woods possibly on their way out but McInnes coming in which other player should be target to keep up our numbers if other teams captains?

No quotes, but this says that he has made it clear he’s coming to Cronulla to play lock
