Okay, maybe we do have to wait until 2022...

Despite his impending arrival, Morris was preparing to meet McInnes at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium still wearing the red and white V, ruling out any chance of an early exit.

“It’s all been based around 2022 so I think there is every chance that we will be opposing Cam in round one," he added.

“We’ll see what happens but I think he’s pretty committed, he’s the captain of their club and he’ll commit to the Dragons and join us in 2022.”

Yeah me too. Won't be Rd 1 as we play the Dragons but can't blame them for wanting to transition earlier. Everyone wins if he comes to us early.

It's just about working out the deal and what we can pay him, what the Dragons are willing to pay and if they want any of our players. I think I read he's only on 450k, he's been paid for 3 to 4 months of that already, so might not need to find that much.

Those guys have no idea. It's interesting see other fans give their perspective of another teams. Quite clear they have no idea what they're talking about regarding our cap. And still think Brailey will want to leave.

Our own fans are bad enough

"Sharks will still have a terrible pack"
"Surely McInnes plays hooker otherwise where would that leave Williams - Paul Gallen named him as his replacement"
"He’s a niff nuff. I could go out there and make 50 tackles a game. Offers nothing in attack."

Also loads of Sharks fans seem convinced we've got him to play hooker. I expect and really hope they are wrong.

And people on Kennel etc thinking that brings Brailey to Dogs because him and Flanno are best friends, last season Flanno was best friends with Xerri, wonder who will be next?

Wishful thinking on Blayke to the Dogs from their supporters. How much clearer can Bomber and Cam make it that he's coming to play lock?

I think it was Clarkey that started it all. Had a post saying it then pretty much retracted it after the lock quotes from Bomber and Cam

We have 1 hooker and 0 lock so obviously if we sign someone that can play both we have 2 hooker and 0 lock.

Oh man the takes on that Kennel thread - we won't be able to keep Brailey because there is no way we can fit Moylan, Woods, Dugan, Fifita and McInnes into the cap and we're stuck with those players for the length of their contracts.
Never though to have a quick look at the length of those contracts there dude? 3 of those 4 will be up. Even if we did shoehorn McInnes in early it would have to be on his lower contract and likely with a bit of Dragons money.

Wonder if someone like a Moylan would be willing to give up say 50k for this season (if there is even a way to do that) if it helped get McInnes here early.
Doesn't compete with him for minutes and helps make our start of season easier which could makes 100s of 1000s of $ difference to his next contract. Would be a gamble by him obviously, but probably not more than him and the YKTR crew pour down the pokies.

Was thinking about that yesterday, Bort. Wonder if Duges would be keen if it meant getting a new contract

Just make sure we are beating the dragons after 30 mins or so and maybe they will be willing to facilitate a half time swap. Give them Billy M or Williams for the second half as a sorta try before you buy

I think it’s pretty risky. The bit that annoys me is that the four years doesn’t start until next year, so you’re really trying to predict how good someone is going to be in 5 years.

That’s a long time. Longer than most NRL careers.

at least it's not 4 years on a temperamental player like Moylan - the 4 years from Cam should be reasonably consistent and I don't believe he has any underlying fitness or injury issues

I definitely don't want Dufty

he's better than any other FB option we have right now. carved us up when we played them as well IIRC. he's like a stronger more durable version of Nathan Gardner

Mick Ennis
McInnes

Close enough.

I considered mentioning Duges too as again, no contest for minutes.
I think Duges has strung good enough seasons together though McInnes coming in for 2021 to help Sharks do better probably has less chance of significantly boosting his next wage than it does if Moylan can help us put a good season together in spine.
How this season goes could easily make like, I dunno, 300k difference and maybe even an extra year to Moylans next contract?

Would be fair justice for say Woods to contribute towards Cam coming over early. He's such a cruiser it's a wonder Duges hasn't skulled him on the Kareela clubhouse roof.

Still buzzing about this signing.

Interesting when probed about this year, bomber said you don't have to fill the 30 this year if you don't want to. Wonder if that makes it a possibility to find some more cash.

Not sure what dates or timeframes you are referring to but come July or somewhere around that date ALL 16 clubs have to have 30 players reg on their books, all compliant with the cap & players in the 30 need to be on the min wage agreement

That's what I thought too. Bombers interview on SEN he said they don't have to fill the spots this year. I'm not sure if he meant yet, or at all, but it sounded like to me with the salary drops they didn't need to be filled at all.

Happy to be corrected if my interpretation is way off the mark.

Yeh, dunno mate, I’m no guru on this, Burgess who posts on here is pretty cluey on how many we have in our squad & who is contracted etc for top contracts & development ones.

We’d be silly
Not to pursue the option of giving them some deadwood for an early mcinnes. I have a feeling Williams will come good, so hopefully magoulias or even nikora

Nikora is an edge and we don’t have a lot of them. We’ve already got a decent number of middles so the inclusion of Cam suggests a middle needs to go.

Billy the obvious choice as he can cover hooker at a pinch. Up to the Dragoon what they want.
