If we have the cap space it seems logical because it means the Dragons can get McCullough for this year too as I think there's issues with how much the Broncos/Dragons are willing to pay. If Dragons can free up a bit of cash they can get him.
other than freeing up a bit of cash for the dragons it's a bad deal for them, they lose an inspirational captain and quality player but gain an average hooker in Andrew McC. it's great for us though so suck **** to them
An element of that was likely A) changed rules and B) changed role
A) he should be able to adapt to a bit to increase his lateral mobility and fitness. Maybe shed a kilo or two of body fat to be a bit lighter without sacrificing strength (take hard work on field and in diet)
B) moved from bench role to starting role so things got a bit tougher, will be more used to it now and what it demands
I wouldn't say I have particularly great concerns about BHU, although agree I'd like to see him improve for this year.
He can keep those nice tries rolling in this year too
let's also not forget at one point during 2020 he was in blistering form, bagged a couple first trys for us and was a handful
he get's in a bit of trouble when defenses adapt to him and he keeps running the same lines ect, gets put under pressure and his hands let him down a bit then
defense and fitness needs work agree
he will be fine in 2021
Big signing. 9/13 capable. Great pick up. I think he will really thrive as a 13 in the new sped up game. Those mobile locks are going to become a huge value to teams
that he can easily cover hooker is a massive bonus - makes sense why we didn't sign a direct replacement for Cam King if we had this in the works
Apparently on 450k currently. If we could get them to chip in 150-200k and moved someone like Williams to them we should be okay.
I said Mags before as there has been interest there in the past but he's probably not on enough to make it work.
You'd rather move on contributing starting prop and our (currently) second most important defender on 600k and finishes up this year than our sometimes contributing bench prop who is semi-crippled and on 850k for 2021 and 2022?
I get why people don't like Woods, I don't love him either but moving Fifi frees up money to make another really good signing and he is currently contributing less than Woods and on our books for next season too.
I guess in this hypothetical though you can stick with hope slightly trimmed down Fifi will be light enough to get back to near his best, in that case I agree Woods can go...
can't just move Fifs on though unless someone takes his salary and even then he could say no. if he is fit then the medical retirement angle won't fly either. would prefer to just back him to come good than to pay a club legend to play for another club. he showed a few games last year before copping new injuries that he's still got that ability and can be very dangerous, was starting too look quite good again so don't write him off
