We'll keep him.

I have no intel but feel he wants to stick with the group he's been coming through the grades with.

And I know we've been having talks with him, guess that is intel.

Good to hear. Any idea whether Luhan is still around? Maybe if we keep his good mate on the books it would help. They've done it before (e.g. Lorenzo, Cleeland)

The intense inside ball hate seems like a unique gripe to this site. I think it started in the Robson days.

And there was an issue with turning it back inside to Gardner if he didn’t score off the play. (As if you score off everything you do, or as if the purpose of every single play is to score)

I’ve always found it bizarre.

lol

you guys have excuses for Chad on every single thing he does.

I have criticisms of his game, but using his left and right option (instead of just one) isn’t one of them.

I mean, you want him to be less predictable but you want him to always pass the same way.

I love the inside ball when you are drawing defenders in to create space somewhere else.

Unfortunately we use it far too often with no real purpose behind it.

Are you talking about an inside pass like the one Wade used to do, or turning your outside man back under like chad does?

He's complaining specifically about Chad turning forwards under, even though every other NRL half does it just as much as (or more than) Chad.

I thought so. I’d imagine anyone that that calls turning someone back under an “inside ball” might not realise the value of either of them

lol wrong terminology used, I must not know a thing

At the very least we know you don’t know the difference between those two, but I’d trust you to break down a halfbacks value to a team based on what type of passes he throws

Mate - you can have your opinion on Chad, but can we please stop every thread becoming a Chad discussion? If you want to bag Chad, go nuts in the Chad thread, the 2020 season thread, or a game day thread for a game he actually played in.

Myself and others have been through a long discussion on the strategic reasons for certain types of play, which is at least somewhat relevant in a thread for Trindall (since he might be the bloke doing that this weekend) but it gets tiring having people whinge about the same bloke in 15 different threads.

Let's talk about Trindall ... very good young player. Let's home we can keep him. I'm hoping he stays in the 17 this week.

This has gone to sht... I think the reason why some hate inside balls here is because of Chad doing it so much and how often he did it when it seemed there was an outside option, there were games he went inside ball almost all the time - pretty sure if you go through game threads you’ll see it a lot. There is a time and place, just don’t think CT is an example of the good ones.

On Trindall, apparently if he leaves he isn’t a patient enough half and isn’t the type of half we want if he doesn’t want to sit around and wait for Chad - apparently we want our halves to wait their time until we are completely ready and done with Chad Townsend And they have to accept it otherwise they are not a good half with good qualities ! Even if they seem too hungry to play first grade and suit first grade and play awesome we still want our young halves to wait because that’s a good quality !

None sorry, seemed pretty rated by Morris in the off season pre Covid so could still be around, just not in the bubble/top squad.

Agreed, can't hurt.

Burgess if we lose Trindall because of Chad we might not even have a Trindall thread to go to soon.

Let’s enjoy this thread while it lasts. Inside ball inside ball midfield bomb

Wizard you thought Trindall should look to quit if he didn't get picked ahead of Moylan for last weekends game and then he didn't get named anywhere in the 21
But still ended up being given an opportunity. If he had your attitude he would have stomped out of the club crying, but instead he got to play another NRL game and play 'awesome' and make a stronger case for future selection.
Yeah being patient and earning/deserving your opportunity is a good quality. Simply not being Chad Townsend doesn't count as earning or deserving an opportunity.

Regarding the hypothetical games where Chad went inside 'almost all the time' (I say hypothetical because I think that is a big exaggeration) how much consideration do you think goes to a specific game plan from the coach to target back at the ruck a lot against that team? I'd assume none but in reality that is the most likely reason you would see a lot of sending forwards back on the inside.

Yeah but there is evidence to show that the more Trindall plays the better he is and the more he offers.

He's development is very important but, if we had a quality half that was keeping Trindall at bay, then fine, Trindall should wait. But, we don't, we have Townsend.

If Trindall has to wait behind Townsend, he has every right to look for other options. Flanagan did it.
