That Elbow was **** poor on Klemmers part. I'm all for the Bumpers, but cocked elbow no.Hargreaves does it and a couple of others, filthy play.
Agree any forearm that’s raised horizontal is a sketchy move. Heaps of players run then raise it obviously to protect themselves and the ball. Makes it ****en hard to make an up right holding tackle.

Yes and a whole lot more .
He'd have some absolute CLASSIC Flanno tales.
Love to see Hooper , Kent , Buz and others ALL get called out , when his truth and side of the stories come out.
Nearly missed that grand final .
Ended up BEST on ground
Last Laugh

He couldn't of been best on ground mate otherwise he would have won the Clive Churchill award...

Can he be medically retired because of this?
I'm thinking the NRL would not take risk him playing again and would medically retire him. It would be cheaper to pay out his contract than take risk of something happening which could cost millions if not ten's of millions depending on severity.

I wish the big fella a speedy recovery and hope the club gives him a job.

Surgery was a success and expected to make a full recovery

Fifita set to make ‘full recovery’ as details of horror emergency revealed

The NRL’s match review committee has cleared Newcastle players of any wrongdoing in the on-field accident that left Cronulla prop Andrew Fifita in an induced coma with a serious throat injury.

Fifita had surgery on Tuesday to treat a fractured larynx, having been placed in a coma on Monday following the injury on Sunday at Redcliffe.

The Sharks said in a statement on Tuesday night that he is expected to make a full recovery.

“Andrew Fifita underwent laryngeal surgery late today in Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital,” the statement read. “The surgeon carrying out the procedure informed that the surgery was successful, with Andrew expected to make a full recovery.

“Andrew will now remain in ICU in the short term, before continuing his recovery in hospital.

“Andrew’s wife Nikki and the Fifita family would like to express their thanks to their many friends, Sharks members and fans and the wider rugby league community for the support and well wishes received, with the family now looking for some space and privacy during the recovery process.

“The Sharks will support Nikki and her family and allow Andrew the time to recover and ask that their wishes for privacy are respected during this time.”

It was speculated the damage may have been caused by an illegal act by a Knights player or players, but after thoroughly reviewing footage of the game, the MRC judged no foul play had taken place.

It comes as the Sydney Morning Herald reveals new, horrifying details about the medical emergency.

Fifita left the field six minutes after half time against the Knights and was then sitting on the bench wearing a mask, as per the new protocols.

It wasn’t until after full-time he reportedly began having difficult breathing, and became distressed inside the dressing sheds with the rest of the players and staff

Fifita was taken by medical staff and paramedics out of the sheds, and onto the playing field where they laid him down to treat him.

The Herald says Fifita “could have died” and his “screams reverberated around” the venue, which could be heard by his teammates inside the sheds. Stadium staff reportedly had to shut the doors to stop people going outside to check on the situation.

It’s reported they treated him for 45 minutes at the stadium.

Fifita’s airway was reportedly closing and so paramedics made the decision to rush the international prop to Royal Brisbane Hospital for emergency treatment

Scary stuff and a reality check that players in general will get critised by fans for drop in form, mistakes and whether we feel they are 'having a go' but we can never truly appreciate how tough every NRL player really is and what they risk when running out onto the field.
