In your head, rent free
We'll see, I doubt that happens.

it will be column a and b

if he wants to retire there wont be a way they can stop him, if he wants to play the nrl will have their insurance team running the rule over his body

you think that they wont because "fifita" and "we arent the roosters" but the last thing the nrl want is to be liable for someones life at the end of the day

No, not at all.

I think if Fifita's medical advice is that it's safe for him to play then the NRL won't overrule that.

At this point could go either way as some players have played on through this and some haven't

It is sad, and I wouldn't have ever wished it for him, but it does give him a window for a graceful NRL exit. He hasn't had a happy season, and is a fair way off the top 17. At the start of this year, he probably had the fire to prove he still has it. He would have to be incredibly intrinsically motivated to have that fire still burning now after this.

Whatever happens, he will still be my favourite shark of this era. Wish him and his family all the best.

Fantastic news. Really glad for him and his fam. That was genuinely scary stuff.

As to if he'll play again...Just can't see him getting back into a condition for first grade regardless... Any mention of recovery times? I'd expect months before he could resume training, and the big bloke is going to be on an ice cream and jelly diet for a while.

But the big question is around the cash. Well just have to wait and see

Would be interesting to know if they would have done anything if Cordner decided to play on.

Probably hard for NRL to overrule a specialist clearing him to play.

Haven’t seen any mention of recovery time, the major immediate issue was swelling which has been addressed. Bone should heal pretty quick but cartilage damage more of an issue.
Eisenhuth did his at storm in 2019 round 1 and next played round 18 so in theory could probably do quite a bit of pre Xmas just no contact and then be fully available post Xmas.

You’d think being at back end of career significantly increases the likelihood of not playing on, and potentially also young daughter a factor too with this brush with death.

Medical retirement would probably the best outcome, money for him and at least goes out through injury and active in the NRL and frees up our cap space.
I guess best possible result is potential end of NRL career inspires him to level up his efforts and get back to the Fifita of old but we’re probably more likely to be 2021 premiers than see that unfortunately.

Is it the same injury Gary Larson did? He played on for several years after.

Before enjoying a successful career as a cartoonist.

I read your comment HB and thought I must look him up again and re-live some of his brilliant work.

I suddenly got lost in his wikipedia page, his website, collections and sketchbooks and after a while I sat here wondering how the hell I got onto this in the first place.

So I closed the browser I was on and bingo! There was Sharks Forever and your comment.

How long was I gone for?

I reckon easily 30 minutes.

I know Jarrod McCracken sued over a spear tackle but I'm sure I remember him copping a stiff arm across the adam's apple previous to that. Levelled him out and he had trouble breathing.

He was a MASSIVE Grub on the field and. Was an environmental vandal and wasn't ever keen on paying his tradies bills as a property developer
after footy.
Would NEVER feel sorry for him .
Hurt SO many

If all is well with his recovery from this, it could be a blessing. He now rests then prepares for 2022, which may well be his final year in the game. The rest will hopefully give his body some recuperation and some of those niggles like calves and hammys may settle. Cant do much for the crook knee though

Mate that's very optimistic. He's had a fair few of these possibly blessed long stints off to get the body right & it hasn't really happened.

Yeah, he's faced a lot less in preparing for a season and has struggled. Tough to see him coming back

Not sold an extra few weeks off with a life threatening throat injury is gunna give his body the significant extra recuperation you’re suggesting
