Think Adam Reynolds and keary would be a good pick for the halves. With walker in the 14 jersey

I’m gunning for Chad. He’s going to have a huge game this weekend and when he’s asked about origin in his post game MOM speech, he’ll just fix his hair and steal the hearts of every New South Welshman. #CT72019

“It opens the door, doesn’t it. You’ve got the likes of Jack Wighton, Kotoni Staggs, Josh Morris, Jesse Ramien,” Parker said.

Thanks Corey! Very cool!.

Ramien should get a Jersey. Ramien and Mitchell in the centres would be dynamite

Greg Alexander vouches for Chad Townsend to be NSW's No.7

Chad Townsend Sharks
The Weekend Hangover is back with all the drama and controversy from round nine of the 2019 NRL season.

Origin bolter Chad Townsend has one important person in his corner

Chad Townsend is only one or two more big games away from piling genuine pressure on Nathan Cleary for a NSW State of Origin berth.

Townsend's outstanding form for the injury-hit Sharks has him right in calculations, with his name in discussion alongside Cleary and Adam Reynolds.

"I'd be so confident in him doing the job, I really would," Blues advisor and former champion No.7 Greg Alexander told The Weekend Hangover.

"He reads the play so well, he's got a good pass, he can defend and he takes the right option almost every time.

"We are definitely chatting about Chad Townsend. His name is right up there alongside Nathan and Adam Reynolds.

"There are no chinks in his armour."

It was only three seasons ago that Townsend was hooked mid-game after turning in a shocker against Canberra in a semi-final.

He recovered from that humiliation to go and play a key role in the Sharks' breakthrough grand final win.

Alexander said: "He's has gone from that player - where his career could have plummeted - to a key player.

"It's quite remarkable."

Former teammate Michael Ennis added: "That three-week period was the making of Chad Townsend. He is now so reliable."

I got thinking about this a bit more and I actually like the idea of Chad getting an Origin gig provided SJ is fully fit and healthy (as well as one can be during a season) and playing well.

It benefits our game by giving Chad rep game experience which will further develop his skills and also helps with Jnr's development by partnering up with SJ for those extra couple of games whilst Chad is on Origin duty.

I actually see Chad playing origin as a win/win for us long term.

I'd be happy for him but don't dunno about the upsides.

If he tanks, it may break him mentally for the year? He's never existed in the spotlight so don't know how he'd handle the over the top media bull****.

If he goes good, he's off open to offers from other clubs from November right? Meaning we'd have a lot of competition. I can see a team like Melbourne or the Roosters really grooming him from November if he keeps going good and makes a name for himself in origin.

yea he's in a good head space right now and probably can't play any better or with any more confidence that we are already seeing now but if there is another level from here to go to for him best of luck to him and I would be happy for him and us

I would be just really worried about a ben hunt type moment in Origin ruining his good run of Sharks form, he looks on top of the world at the moment. you either leave an Origin series demoralised, busted or on a massive come down

He got hooked in a semi and came back straight away so I wouldn’t say he couldn’t come back from a SOO stinker

yea i know bort, you're not wrong there mate and yes some players do come back better from Origin for the experience but Chad is already becoming a real leader in the team and already playing out of his skin

he probably has the temperament and enough love of the game that it wouldn't keep him bogged down for too long but he just looks in such good rhythm and touch at the moment

it's like building a beautiful house of cards, removing one at the top probably won't bring the whole thing down but why tempt fate

happy for him if he got called up but can't see it happening anyway

The media always like to talk up a "bolters" chances come origin time.
Maybe Chad is this years bolter?
I tend to agree that at the end of the day Freddie will more than likely go with a Rooster together with a Rabbit or to a lesser extent an incumbent (but that is looking less and less likely every round as those two are **** at the moment).

Anyways, by being considered or spoken about in Origin discussions should at the very least give Chad more confidence and that will give him a boost.

The talk came from a selector (Brandy) saying Chad is in the mix.
