On a similar topic, does anyone have the goss on some of the ex-NYC youngsters we had last season, and whether we'd be looking to retain them in secondary contracts?

Blokes like Winstone Asotasi, Patrice Siolo, Ben Chahoud etc etc. (I know Paul Simona is not with us this year for instance). Obviously it's still early, but the info on our squads is always a bit lacking.

The NYC players that turned 20 this year and are finished in the 20s should not be retained. Those names you mentioned and the others who turned 20 this year are not and will never be good enough for NRL level.

As for Dillon he is a big unit but based on 2014 form there is no way he should be considered for NRL in 2015.

The way I'm looking at it, Ennis can steer the team around from Hooker, that's a strength of his. So I don't think we're as reliant on having a general at halfback as much as we need a competent half that can kick to 1st grade standard. That's not to say that Nu is ready for that role yet. But whatever (I forgot where I was going with this post so I'll end it here)

hahaha I see what you mean mate could be a way to go. Could find ourselves in a fair bit of strife if Ennis isn't there though.

I'd keep Solo on a second tier deal, especially given Masima's departure.

Asked this a couple of days ago and got no feedback.

Anyone know how does the "top 25" work if we get more signings, can we distribute the top 25 allocations, right before the start of the year?

I know there is additional cap restraints on the lower grades too, but can we shift players in and out of the top 25 as we see fit ?

I don't think so, there contracts lodged with their salary would determine if they are top 25 squad or not.

So when they sign a contract it would specifically indicate if they are top 25? (the lower grades have a salary cap of 250-350 as well don't they?)

Would make live hard if we do have money left in our cap, but no top 25 spots...surely there has to be a way around that?

I would think this also.

Like if we had our top 25 then Barba popped up we'd drop someone out to accommodate.

There are minimum wages but I don't know that there is a ceiling on the lower tier earnings.

Dunno mate but I think that 250-300 you are referring to is for all players & I assume that the most one of the non top 25 players wouldn't be anywhere near the NRL min wag of 80 or 90k (can't remember what the min wage is)

How long after a top tier signing or just any signing really would the club generally update the player profiles?

Yeah 250-350 was for all players...I just can't understand how it works, 30 names, but 25 spots. Houma supposably might not be in the top 25 also is Wells definitely, it says he is training with the NRL guys, but would that necessarily mean he is in the top 25?

NRL bumped up the 2nd tier cap to $440,000 prior to the 2014 season, according to this.

I think $80K is the minimum first grade contract (top 25).

I think this is why the 2nd tier cap gets busted or players can't make their debuts/play more FG after debut because once they're in FG squad their pay goes up which comes off 2nd tier cap.

Well we haven't officially signed Beale and Stanley so it's 28.
