Proven Second Rowers
Tinirau Arona
Wade Graham
Chris Heighington
Paul Gallen
Luke Lewis
Anthony Tupou

Proven Props
Andrew Fifita
Sam Tagataese

I know we would be hell bent on signing another experienced prop. But given this list even with the hopeful step up of D Fifita and others I wonder if this will be the time we will see Gallen play prop. Would solve a major issue for and would also help utilize the money invested in the second row (also could open up the spot for Bird, been his' favoured position)...

And allgood! I'm so forgetful...

Hope it is ALL Good, Hunt is 106 kgs ( NOT BIG FOR TODAY) HE has not managed to match it with the Bigger new style Props Saints letting him go because there pack did not do the Bizz last year generally thought of as soft can't match it with the top 5 teams.

And we are still light on for Props, Allgood is a bit thick, but he does play above his weight he goes hard and carts the ball back pretty well, does his share in the D.

Wells and Roqica are not top 25.
Doubt Houma and Politoni would be as well. These guys would be all 2nd tier contracts.

From NRL's prediction of our starting team:

1. Michael Gordon, 2. Sosaia Feki, 3. Ricky Leutele, 4. Jack Bird, 5. Mitch Brown, 6. Ben Barba, 7. Jeff Robson, 8. Andrew Fifita, 9. Michael Ennis, 10. Sam Tagataese, 11. Luke Lewis, 12. Wade Graham, 13. Paul Gallen (c). Interchange: 14. Anthony Tupou, 15. Chris Heighington, 16. Jayson Bukuya, 17. Bryce Gibbs*.

I am pretty sure Jack Bird won't be starting round 1, and even though I've been telling myself otherwise, I have to finally admit that bloody Mitch Brown will be there on the wing. Hopefully he won'tlast more than a few rounds and we see Gagan or Holmes back there.

Gagan was absolute quality every time he played, if they drop him for Brown its criminal...

I highly doubt Mitch brown will be there round one. I also doubt Jack Bird will be there as well. Holmes and Gagan both performed well and scored some good tries in Firsts and are much more dangerous than Brown will ever be already.

Wouldn't pay much attention to that list - Gibbs isn't even with us next year lol

Great to finally see some competition in our 1-5!

This is what I would like to see round 1. If we don't snare Beale, I hope we give Bird a crack at the other centre spot.

1. Gordon
2. Holmes
3. Beale
4. Feki
5. Gagan

Backup - Bird, Leutele, Brown, Ashford

Is it me, or only 12 months ago we were all complaining that we are forward heavy and need to buy backline players, 12 months on we are struggling too fit all the players in the backline.. and lacking props!!

I don't want Holmes to play a full year of first grade. I'd rather he start the year in reserves and come in by around June/July for a run at the finals. That way we get him and his ball play when it counts but we don't see his body break under the strain of getting belted by first graders for 30 weeks.

I also see no reason to think that Leutele is any particular favourite of Flanagan. He's played plenty of reserves and only ever got short term contracts.

not sure if bird is up for a full season in the centres, will most likely play reserve grade most of the year but I wouldn't be upset if he was named on the bench come round 1, that's where I'd play him next year. Off the bench

This is what I would also like to see. I want to see Holmes in top grade but if we take the RTS route and ease him into fullback it will work out better long term.

I actually think that tactic of changing players around is pretty good even when you have established players.

Kickers are usually going to try to avoid kicking to a particular player if they can help it. Or they are going to try and exploit a particular player's weakness, whatever that may be.

If you switch the players around every now and then there's a bit more for the kicker to think about. Even if Barba plays in the halves, I wouldn't mind him dropping back every now and then to get some open field running too. Only problem is it might cause a bit of confusion from time to time though.
