Suppose we can say he’s the number one form fullback.

“If Kalyn Ponga is worth $1.2m plus on the open market, that surely makes the man he lines up against on Friday night the NRL’s best-value fullback.

Cronulla’s Will Kennedy signed a contract extension last year believed to be worth $400,000 a season.

The 24-year-old is giving the Sharks serious bang for their buck after a tremendous start to the season.

He now leads a crack field of No.1s in the category of most direct try involvements.

In three games, Kennedy has six – a try, two assists and three secondary assists.

Next best is Melbourne’s Ryan Papenhuyzen with five from two tries, two assists and one secondary assist.

Clint Gutherson and Tyrell Sloan each have four, while James Tedesco and Tom Trbojevic are back in the field with a try and an assist each.

Latrell Mitchell has one try and two assists in two games.

The one knock on Kennedy has been his defence. Under Craig Fitzgibbon that looks to be on the improve after he produced a sensational try-saver on Ben Hunt in the win over the Dragons.”

James Tedesco $1.1m
Tom Trbojevic $1.1m
Kalyn Ponga $1m
Latrell Mitchell $875k
Clint Gutherson $800k
Will Kennedy $400,000
Sshhhhhhh
don’t tell him. He will want an upgrade!

He's playing really well, and fefinitely benefiting from getting some great ball in really good shapes

I keep saying this: he will be one of the best fullbacks in the league by the end of the year.

I agree.

Compare apples with apples.

He offers so much more than the most recent premiership winning fullback Edwards.

He’s got a running and capable passing game.
Safe under the high ball and decent in a field position perspective.

He could only (in my view) improve on his strength in defence (intensity). And develop a kicking game.
Not saying he’s peaked. But man. He is an excellent fullback!

We're crafting a game where he doesn't have to be directly involved in every attacking raid & ice it for us to be dangerous. His off the ball work is improving nicely. This blokes legit & playing better than blokes on 3x the coin.

Agree with this

He has definitely put and onus on improving his positioning in defense, that's one thing I've noticed is that he is doing a much better job following the ball

Still needs to be a better support player though. He'll get plenty of chances if he follows our forwards better

I love Kennedy and hope he can take a few things from Paps last night which will really take him to the next level:

1. Constantly backing up in the middle. He will score nearly a try a game if you look at how many line breaks we do.

2. Fight harder to get up to play the ball. The Storm were laying on him for ages and because he just laid there the ref didnt hurry them up to get off.

Apart from that he is so safe under the high ball and really adds that extra spark in the back line (both sides).

Agreed but last night I think showed Will Kennedy is a better player then Paps
