Many of you will recognise the first part of the title of this thread from the exceptional movie, The Matrix. If you do, you will know the full quote is from Morpheus when he tells Neo, "There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path."
It refers to acknowledging that there is a big difference between knowing what needs to be done and actually putting your hand up to say, "I will do it."
I returned from the Leagues Club last night with the words to our Club song still ringing in my ears and I must admit, it was some time before I was actually able to fall asleep. When I finally did manage to drift off, I dreamt about the Sharks. I was walking with the team and our fans and we were being led by Paul Gallen. In fact, we were walking in the shadow of Gallen, who was a giant leading us along the path.
I don't know where that path goes, I never found out but I am sure most of you, like me, know where you want it to go. However, if you want to get there, you have to walk the path with us. It is not enough to watch as we walk by, we need everyone with us to reach our destination.
After last nights game, I looked around Shark Park as we left the ground and headed to the Leagues Club and I realised just why this Club means so much to me. Walking with me were people I grew up with, people I went to school with, people I have worked with, friends, relatives, acquaintances and total strangers. Everyone was smiling, laughing, shaking hands and slapping backs.
One victory can make such a difference. Imagine what we can achieve if we all work together. So, in short, what I want to know is who is coming with us? You can't sit back and watch, you have to get involved. Do whatever it takes; get to games and bring as many people as you can. Promote the team to friends, family, workmates. Become a member. Buy a T shirt.
If you are already doing all you can, welcome to the path. We're glad to have you with us. If you haven't joined us yet, come on! We are waiting for you!
