yes i read that too

i think it would be worth trying aiton at lock like he played for png, morris at hooker & toopu would drop back to the bench playing a impact role from the bench like he did at the roosters & when he was still playing rep footy. this would also mean we could have kelly on the bench & we could build his game time up gradually. this would also give us a lot more impact from the bench

i agree .

Yeah I listened to it. Pretty standard stuff, but he did mention:

- He was tossing up between us and NQ for quite a while. The allure of going there was to learn from JT, the lure of coming here was to join a young and developing side and be the main man in the halves. He also mentioned how good our pack was, and that that was an attraction.
- Was asked where he would be playing, and said Flano hadn't made it clear yet- that he would be in the halves, but whether he would be at half or 5/8th was a "team dynamics" thing that wouldn't be decided until the senior players returned.
- It was put to him that he would be looking to improve his running game this offseason and he kind of laughed and said well that was my strength in the juniors, but when I came in to grade at Penrith we didn't really have a halfback so my kicking and passing games had to develop (paraphrased)
- He confirmed that Gal called him before he signed, and that the call was appreciated. Apparently Gal just wanted to say that the players wanted him at Cronulla as well as the coach, and Wade was pleased to hear that. (No threats mentioned!)

That's all I've got atm. By the way, I imagine Wade would have played with Vave over at the riff? As far as I recall, he mentioned again that he'd played rep footy with Gards.

Cronulla Will Challenge Finals: Graham

Cronulla Will Challenge Finals: Graham

At just 20 years of age half Wade Graham sees potential in his new-look Cronulla Sharks side, likening it to that of his former club Penrith.

“This side has a lot of potential,” Graham told sportsnewsfirst.com.au.

“I see the Sharks in a similar position to what Penrith were a couple of year’s back, a young side with a big young forward pack.

“It’s a good opportunity for me to be a part of that building process and still be there when we have success.”

Despite the team finishing 14th last season, Graham hopes to play a part in Cronulla making the finals like he did with Penrith in 2010, something he believes possible off the back of the Sharks gigantic forward pack.

“It’s a fairly good forward pack, I think the team is a lot better than where they finished up last year,” he said.

“There’s potential there it’s just a matter of jelling together and getting some wins on the board.

“If you look at it, it’s actually a well balanced side.

"Our forwards are our strength, Snowy (Kade Snowden) debuted in origin side, Douggie’s (Luke Douglas) not far away, you’ve got Anthony Tupou and we just signed Jeremy Smith, an international back rower, then you’ve got Paul Gallen who got golden boot lock of the year.”

The crafty ball player made his first grade debut at the age of 17 for the Panthers in 2008 at which time his was playing in the Toyota Cup.

The former Hills Sports High School student has signed a two year deal which will see him in the shire until the end of 2012.

After three seasons with the Panthers, the squeeze of the salary cap pushed Graham to the Sharks.

With Shane Flanagan at the helm, his first full season as the first grade coach, Graham has challenged himself to step his game up.

“I grew up in Penrith, it's all I’ve ever known and wanted to do was playing for Penrith growing up,” said Graham.

“It’s a fresh start for me and prove to all the boys I want to be in first grade.

“Its different environment, a different feel, different club. I’m really liking it.

“We had a bit of a chat about (stepping up) today.

“As a whole squad we are all looking to improve."

“This time of years more about getting physically right but I’ve been running the halves,” he said.

“Depends on the trials and how we go as to what the dynamics of the side will be.

“We have to figure out how the side works together and what role we will be playing.”

The fact that he is being seen as the leader of the halves really enforces the point to me that it's a battle between Kelly/T.Smith to out perform each other in the trials.

I want Porter to at least be given a shot in the trials as well. While he is not the best choice for the role it is not like Kelly or Smith are killing it. In terms of your overall point though I agree.

Also good to see that Graham has come feeling he has something to prove and that he is motivated. He seemed a bit comfortable at Penrith so this should be good for him provided our team is as motivated as he seems to be.

Also good to hear a new recruit talking up the prospects of the team, especially since he is coming from one of last year's successful teams and is joining one that... well... yeah...

For mine I can see Flanno basically apointing

Porter NSW Cup halves leader.
Graham NRL halves leader.

Kelly/Smith fight it out for the NRL spot, the loser goes in NSW cup with Ports.

I was just curious, Canberra had Todd Carney on 400 k because of his junior rep CV, I was just wondering how much we had to fork out to get this guy, 200 k would be more than reasonable, Im quite suprised Parramatta wouldnt have chased him desperately.
