I just posted on another thread re Boyd Cordner retiring immediatey due to ongoing concerns re concussion.

Interestingly Wade was there along with the entire Roosters team in support.

I would go so far to say Wade should sit out the rest of the year. Get himself 100% right for 2022.

Have him in the Coach’s box or run the water and be involved but stay out of on field action this year.

I still don't get how players can get to 'multiple head knocks' without opting to wear headgear first.

I know mist players don't like them, a lot even question how effective they are, but if it gave you a slim chance of continuing your career you'd have to wear one.

Apparently headgear has no effect or is no guarantee of avoiding concussion. It only helps stops cuts and abrasions and the like.

But it still helps, still softens the blows.

Sometimes airbags do more damage than good, but I still want them in my car when **** gets real.

I was always the headgear kid, and you'd just have teammates just outright detest the idea of wearing them.

NFL players get massive concussions. They wear helmets. When the brain is stopped suddenly and reverses motion as in a good tackle, it happens.

I bruised my optic nerves in a car accident in my mid twenties, couldn’t drive for 3 months even now 25 plus years later my eyesight is on the dodgy side… was explained going from 60 to zero in a meter makes your brain swish forward and then back the optic nerves are at the back of your brain… I can only imagine these poor buggers in years to come…

Never wore headgear...primarily cause my fat head was too big plus the mongrel things were dreadfully uncomfortable when i played

Question. Who takes the captaincy with Wade out? I know it was Woods before, but I remember Johnson taking it on when he was fit last season, so maybe he gets it back.

Chad will be captain from NSW Cup

Anyone but Woods, he was terrible with the C

Logically it's SJ

As for head gear, it should be worn 24/7 even to the shops - never know when someone is gunna come in from the blind side and a potential banana peel lurks behind every corner

Concussion happens inside the skull. There is no "blow" to soften from outside, it's the rapid deceleration that shakes the brain about.

If you were in a car without a seatbelt & came to a sudden stop you're kissing the windshield. In this instance you're the brain & the car is the skull. No amount of protection you put outside the vehicle is gonna lessen your impact with the windshield.

good question. We are very light on leaders. Wade only got it due to long service.

Not sure that's true, he's always been seen as a leader.

Unfortunately it hasn't really turned out to be the case. He could use some help though, we are definitely light on, as you said.
