Concussion happens inside the skull. There is no "blow" to soften from outside, it's the rapid deceleration that shakes the brain about.

If you were in a car without a seatbelt & came to a sudden stop you're kissing the windshield. In this instance you're the brain & the car is the skull. No amount of protection you put outside the vehicle is gonna lessen your impact with the windshield.

Not sure that's true, he's always been seen as a leader.

Unfortunately it hasn't really turned out to be the case. He could use some help though, we are definitely light on, as you said.
you are right. When Gal was captain, Wade looked like a capable stand in. When he was on his own he seemed to struggle.

I just looked at how it turned out and not what it was like when the appointment was made.

Actually we are very light on leaders.

Elder statesmen (currently in top grade)
Tolman
Moylan
SJ
Chambers
Wood
Fifita

Out of those all but Moylan & Fifita either won't be here next year or have just arrived to club.

Don't see Moylan as captain material and Fifs is struggling to even make top grade.

Probably need to stick with Woods this year (would get too much negative attention if they make SJ captain).

Next year who knows?

I could potentially see someone like Rudolph as future captain. Though this is purely going on his efforts on the field and charisma. I have no idea what he would be like as an actual leader.

We have McInnes coming next year however would have to be pretty good to come straight in and become club captain.

Yeah back then he had Gal and others like Lewy, Fifita etc. He's definitely finding it harder now.

We've lost plenty of experience though. Will be good to have McInnes next year. Hopefully one or two other leaders.

Wade was earmarked as a future captain from very young, maybe should have been more actively transitioned into the gig while Gal was still around as unfortunately from outside looking in I wouldn't say he had demonstrated great on field leadership since going solo.
Next year McInnes wouldn't be the first player to be captain at a new club if Wade was forced to retire this season. Even with Wade I'd look at getting McInnes heavily involved

I assume you're talking about media attention. How's it different with Woods? They've both been told they're not part of the plan for next year.

Yes but SJ is the one who gets the media attention at the moment. They don't really write about Woods.

I think he’d want to see out atleast year one of Fitz, if we look like we could be a chance in 2023 I think he’d then want to sign on for one more year, who know, more concussion could overrule everything

Big Wade fanboy here but I think he needs to retire. Firstly for his own health atm and secondly for our salary cap.

Possibly even sit the reminder of the season out for his health and freshen up, and then head off to Catalans in an easier super league. Only problem there is does he pack up his family on a 2-3 year deal and then get concussed bad again in only the first few games

His best days are behind him with us though sadly and he’s really not adding anything to the team at all anymore. Anyone know roughly what his wage is taking up?

Almost as much as Fifita, but…

Doesn’t matter if he earned it and the boys like playing with him.

Although seems like that may only be the case for some and not others…

I dont think he will play again this season and fully understand if that's the case.
