The fastest, most effective thing that could be done to improve the quality of reserves is to expand the number of players on fulltime training deals.

Rugby league involves a lot of injuries so its shouldn't be surprising to see 6 or 7 of a 25 man squad injured at some point in the season - that's about 25%. It leads to situations like Sauiluma playing backrow or Arona playing hooker. It leaves Clubs scrambling for mid-season signings to patch holes.

Get more players training fulltime and they'll obviously get better. Get the coaches paid better so they're not just turning up on the weekend like its local league.

Flying more teams round every weekend doesn't make anyone a better player.

All makes sense but who would fund it? The NRL after the next Rights deal maybe?

Yeah it has to be the NRL. But really it should be seen as an investment in the product. Better depth = less crap games + more pressure on the ones picked in first grade to hold their spots.

Those players would also filter down to local footy once they leave and strengthen those comps which helps local Clubs and junior participation.

Flying yet more teams of nuffies around each weekend would be expensive too but it wouldn't do much good.

I know In Q cup there are a alot sides that fly every second week just like in Nrl. PNG, Northern pride these kind of guys.

As said above I agree it would grow the game from within and crowd attedends would increase, not many sharks fans would travel to Henson to watch Jets just for the sake of it.

With stories like this.

http://www.nswrl.com.au/news/2015/06/12/murphy_takes_off_for.html

What chance did Murphy ever have of playing first grade.

I have heard stories previously of bs promises made by Flano to keep talented juniors here just to be ignored. This seems to be another case.

There has been (and still is) every opportunity to give this kid a go, especially given the bench props are only played for 15 minutes each.

24 years old, killing it but still Robbo is holding him out of first grade despite no doubt numerous promises made by Flano to get him to come.

We all know how Flanno is with promoting rookies! Look at how long it took Peach to get a run. He was dominating Nswcup and even then it was only because of injuries... Robbo's body can only hold out for so long, but he has a lot of luck in terms of injuries - he is like the Luke Douglas of halfbacks.

When is the next forum? Someone has to ask supercoach why Murphy isn't being used. He will wait till the season is over.
I wish he would piss off and take Robbo with him.

I think Flanno was asked last weekend by a member of the forum, and there was a response along the lines of Murphy doesn't talk enough, or isn't vocal enough on the field. If his job to to direct the team around, that is something that needs work

I think that's a load of **** tbh especially with most sides now they have two halves controlling one side each. I think its more kn the number 9 to direct the team and choose which side is better by playing what he sees better

All robson does is inside balls..no control in anything he does

Didn't one one of our pissed forum members front Flanno with this question. Response being Murphy didn't speak enough or something along those lines. I've not seen him play so can't really pass judgement. Maloney please
