Still don’t understand how he can’t get his weight under control.

He was better when he first started playing FG, before he put on the gut.

He is decent now, but when he first started playing he was a gun.

He’s definitely dropped in form the past 12 months but he has had a lot of injuries. If he can stay injury free for the rest of this season I reckon he can get back to his best.

Yep solid and not bad……I agree

He should be better than that in my book.

When he first came in he was a gun.

Yes there has been injuries but he has been overweight for years now.

And no way you can’t maintain a decent weight as a professional athlete with issues to your foot etc.

Just my thoughts…..I would love to see him playing at his potential

Speaks to his discipline that (I believe) the no drinking this year made it like a few weeks into the season.

He is also plagued by that toe injury which he himself said at the start if the season it won't fully heal for another 12 months.

This hampers his training during the week which doesn't help his fitness levels etc

Exactly

People seem to forget this way too often. He’s not properly training through the week so his match fitness will come.

He doesn’t need to do massive minutes anyway

I don't think people are forgetting about his toe or other injuries. A toe injury is no excuse for being overweight. There would be literally hundreds of different ways he can train that don't flare up his toe or just stop putting as much food in his mouth.

Agree match fitness will come but carrying around additional weight is only going to make the foot worse.

I thought he was decent

He has been a workhorse for years so it's not like he isn't suddenly capable of being that again

He's 28 now, metabolism slowing down a bit perhaps and filling out, a challenge for everyone athlete or not.

If training/coaching staff are concerned I am sure there will be a plan to address it.

His current Sharks profile has him listed @ 106kg which does sound a bit more than it used to be if I am not mistaken but I don't consider that over weight for a prop forward provided he maintains his physical and aerobic fitness to still do his job on the field.

I think he's just getting more the body shape of a starting prop. He seemed to be a little leaner and using more footwork, almost like an edge second rower, earlier in his Sharks career

Toby after the game.
